ABOUT THIS EPISODE As a gym owner and business owner. Ask yourself: Are you a chef or a cook?
A chef understands food at a fundamental level. Because they understand food deeply they can create an infinite number of recipes. This is infinity valuable and cannot be replaced.
A cook just knows how to execute recipes but is nothing without the recipes. Because the number of recipes they have are finite their success is limited.
There are a few undeniable basic truths to finding success in business that can't be deduced further.
They are a mental model for navigating difficult and complex problems. Like winning in competitive business.
Remove everything that you 'think' is true based on experience, upbringing, conditioning, assumptions or opinion and replace it with which you are certain are true and can't be deduced further.
So what are the first principles? Watch the video and let me know what you think in the comments!

ABOUT THIS VIDEO
We all know many financially successful people who are miserable. But there are also financially successful people who did it right and are very happy.
It takes a balance of health, wealth & relationships to find true success in life. If you build a business that tips the scale too much in one direction it's going to take you away from your original purpose of starting a business and leave you overwhelmed.
And what good is financial and material success if you can't enjoy it? Check out the video and let me know what you think in the comments?

ABOUT THIS VIDEO
So much of your success in running your gym and loving it will come down to Building a Culture That Aligns with Your Staff's Values.
Talented people are seeking workplaces where they can align their beliefs with those of the company and ownership. They want to invest their time meaningfully and work together on a common vision of purpose and success.
As gym owners grapple with how to recruit top coaches and retain them, they must rethink how they're shaping and building a culture that unites people around a common cause.
Great leadership means not looking at the dynamic being one of time for dollars. The time they spend with you should provide continuous value, alignment to the vision, purpose, and fulfillment goals.

AUDIO ONLY PODCAST EPISODE:
There's no argument that getting revenue and putting our cash flow in the green is mission critical to business in this stage, so why do we find it so hard to do?
ABOUT THIS VIDEO
When you're starting out or in the growth stage as a gym owner NOTHING is as important as sales.
Without sales you don't have customers, without customers you don't have revenue and without revenue any business will quickly die.
Sales is not the skillset or hat many gym owners would chose to wear first, so we invent a million other things to do to avoid doing it.
The secret to doing revenue generating activities is to identify which activities actually generate revenue as a direct result and which are just a waste of time that masks itself as progress.
When these activities are made into habits we simply can not live without doing them and our lives prosper in return.

This is the tale of the two wolves and the resistance.
Learn to let go of what you cannot control and instead focus on what you can.
In times of turmoil we get stuck in reactive patterns as things happen "to" us.
It's important to gain awareness for this and get proactive by controlling the things you can.
There is always something actionable you can take control and affect the outcome of. It might just not be the thing you are stressing on.
It is your job as the leader of a community to identify those things and lead your community from a place of "us" or 'we", and establish what the expectation is as a member of your community.
This includes not playing the victim and reacting to the consequences by standing by or deciding to do nothing at all.
Tell your members where things are at and share your game plan openly. Not in a negative, sad, reactive way. But in a positive, mission based way.
Their is enough negativity, so aim to be a beacon and guiding light. Keep them focused and remind them that this is not just a gym membership but something bigger.
Does it make the boat go faster?
This is the question every gym owner should ask themselves everyday to ensure you aren't just burning through your time doing things that don't increase performance.
Most people think they're hustling and grinding, but really they're just grinding on $10 an hour tasks that should be delegated or automated.
While they're important and need to be done, that doesn't mean you need to be manually doing them or that they even need to be done at all.
No matter how hard you push on doing these redundant task it'll rarely result in an increase to the businesses performance —
You're NEVER going to make the boat go faster! You're never going to win the race.
For you to have success and buy your freedom of time back you need to be making the boat go faster.
You have to get leaner, faster, lighter, stronger, more agile etc.
In this video I am going to guide you through identifying these obstacles and lay out the things that make the boat go faster so you can win!
Here's what we cover:
I do explain all of these in further detail in the video — feel free to watch it in full because theres a lot of gold nuggets you don't want to miss!

It's not your competition, although that is part of it.
It's not the return you make in your paid campaigns or the time you put in on "content". It's not the "funnel" or the ads. It's this. (especially if you run ads effectively but churn from them) It's not knowing your local market's sophistication level and/or missing it entirely. If you know your market's sophistication level you'll have a much better chance of succeeding in growing and doing it steadily. By knowing your marketplace's sophistication level you'll understand why some claims and promises work while others fall flat. ............................................... 𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻? I know not everyone has time for video so here is a quick bullet list to summarize and if you want to dive deeper then feel free to watch the video: 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝟏 - Usually reserved for the first mover in a market. You're a gym and no other gyms exist in the market so your avatar is hardly even problem aware. A claim just needs to be made. 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝟐 - What is it? The avatar is aware that there are multiple servicers for their base problem (getting in shape) but they aren't sure what the differences in offerings is. The claim needs to be elevated, a bigger promise has to be made, to separate yourself. 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝟑 - This market has heard all the claims and they are knowledgeable on the different promises being made to get them to get fitter. Now it's about the process and mechanism (type of fitness) and NOT how it's better, but how it's DIFFERENT and UNIQUE. 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝟒- At this stage it's about believability, your competition has caught up. Your competition is bolder, bigger, and more sophisticated and so is your avatar. New and bigger claims are made every day. At this point trust is the issue, and if your business is faceless and doesn't start to speak directly to their results and the journey it begins to lose traction in this market. 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝟓 - At this point the separation occurs through identity. Buyers in this market have heard it all and they're looking for belonging because that has more value than the core service itself. They know their is several offering and that almost all of them are good. ....The question they are now asking is "which one fits ME". You have to become a master and making feel people like you are speaking directly to them while almost speaking enmass. This is where the pros separate themselves and where the weak get eaten. This is one of the most important strategies you will ever learn. The best way to learn your marketplace's sophistication is to research. So where do you start in this process of identifying your markets sophistication level? Start with competitive analysis, look at the claims your key competitors are making. Be careful not to get trapped in the "we are better" mindset while doing this. Second, analyze your avatar or define it if you have not already. What I've noticed is most gyms, even successful ones just have the wrong avatar, they THINK they serve this... when they really should be servicing that. Third, think different and unique in how you speak to your market. It's not about logo's or branding, though can help depending on what your level of market sophistication is. For a lot of you this is why things that used to work stopped working. It's not because the thing itself isn't grounded in something that works. ....It's just that your market has evolved and your message has not. This is why fad-driven tactic is short lived and principles are paramount. Because now you can formulate your own tactic as you see your market shift and stay ahead. That's the game we are playing. Hope that helps gang and I hope you guys are crushing it in 2020 so far. From the publisher's feed
