Hail Satire! with Vic Shuttee

AUGUST 31, 2017 - It's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY PODCAST, a rewatch hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! While 2017 is rocked by the deluging tides of Hurricane Harvey hitting the Texas coast, 2000 is being rocked by the public shalacking George W. Bush gives John McCain on Super Tuesday, forcing the Arizona Senator out of the race. Bob Dole pops by to give his hottest takes, while something seems off about Steve Carell in an extended conversation of Daily Show Batman. Neil Patrick Harris, Kevin Pollack, and Garry Shandling while Mo Rocca, Steve Carell and Stephen Colbert cover the country's key swing states. AUGUST 27, 2017 - It's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY PODCAST, a rewatch hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! It's a special Leap Day episode of the Daily Show, and there's certainly a lot of strangeness going on. Steve Carell is giving a hand-me-down segment, Rich Brown transforms into a desk extender and the new Daily Show intern, Pierre clearly isn't watching the clips he's posting to CC.com. But we do have a DeGeneres family reunion, Jon asks the big questions and Vance sums up Bush very succulently. Forest Whitaker, Vin Diesel, and Tobey Maguire also guest. AUGUST 26, 2017 - It's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY PODCAST, a rewatch hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! As Hurricane Harvey rocks a nation, President Trump is sneaking in shadows of pardons and executive orders. Back in 2000, Pee Bags are all the rage! Beth Littleford burns bridges, and Colbert and Carell are back with Even Stevphens as we learn the truth about the REAL Steven Caroselli. Snoop Dog, Charlize Theron, and Rachael Leigh Cook guest, and a puppet correspondent makes a surprising debut! AUGUST 21, 2017 - It's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY PODCAST, a rewatch hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! As the boys pour a couple out for the passing of the comedy legends Dick Gregory and Jerry Lewis, there's nothing too pressing going on in 2000. Gary Bauer and Steve Forbes have dropped from the presidential race, but the biggest loss there is no more pancake flipping jokes. On the other hand, the show steps in a big pile of DON'T DO THAT when they re-air a dumb Vance segment and go full-sequel with a revisiting of not-gay inventor of the Gaydar. Thank god for the guests Moby, Matthew Perry, Denis Farina and Ed McMahon – who rock this week. Also, NO MORE COUCH??? AUGUST 20, 2017 - It's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY PODCAST, a rewatch hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! Let's not a labor such an important week –North Korea wants nuclear Armageddon and we're offering "fire and fury," Trump hearts Neo-Nazis after the Charlottesville rally and Mr. Alt-Right Steve Bannon is out of Washington and back to under the bridge. Whew! In 2000, things are also changing as Jon Stewart embarks on his first hour-long special all about politics with FOCUS ON NEW HAMPSHIRE 2000. It's all hands on deck as Colbert, Beth, Mo, Vance and Nancy plunge into the primaries, scoring interviews with candidates, media figures, supports, protesters, 3rd party write-ins, and one future POTUS. Plus, a out-of-the-park slam dunk interview with Senator Bob Dole, our new recurring political guest. Jon's really laughing and so are we! AUGUST 9, 2017 - It's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY PODCAST, a rewatch hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! It's a week marred by highs and lows – The Daily Show makes some really smart decisions like sending Nancy Walls and Stacey Grenrock-Woods into the field together for some girl-with-girl political coverage, including some facetime with Veep Al Gore. Also, Michael Blieden turns in his final Ad Nausium and while we're sad to see him leave personally, it's no doubt a good sign for the show. But there's also a bit of content sharing going on – Stacey enters Beth Littleford territory with a wacky Rip Taylor interview, and Lewis Black does his best This Week In Hate impression as Tom Shilue plays hooky. But perhaps in the BIGGEST REVELATION OF THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY YET, the boys question their sanity after some shocking external news about God Stuff's John Bloom and he-who-must-not-be-excess. It's a world-shaker, so strap in. Also, a man drinks water via his penis. Nothing to see here. Selma Blair, Peter Krause, and Jenny McCarthy guest, while David Arquette puts the green in greenroom… HE'S HIGH, PEOPLE. AUGUST 8, 2017 - It's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY PODCAST, a rewatch hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! It's time for WHERE IN THE WORLD IS JONNY STEWARTO? He's coming to HBO with his first stand-up special in 21 years! Also coming – whether you want it or not – is Stephen Colbert's Cartoon Donald Trump Showtime series! And what about Jordan Klepper's upcoming series The Opposition? Too much satire to devour, it seems. Back in the quaint days of 2000, it has got to be a lighter week than usual. Steve Carell and Vance Degeneres launch their new segment DOLLARS AND "CENTS" with douchy theatrics, and poor money honey Nancy Walls has gotta deal. But as so many correspondents get sent to the purgatory of "London," while the show devotes full segments to Italian deli meat and MORE Y2K coverage!?! What is this, 1999? Time will tell, but we know we're having more repeat segments than usual. Penelope Ann Miller, Frankie Muniz, Freddie Prinze Jr, and Jerry Springer, as JON STEWART RETCONS CRAIG KILBORN. If he's really been hosting since 1997, this may be Jonny's time for a pink slip. AUGUST 6, 2017 - It's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY PODCAST, a rewatch hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! As The Chief of Staff takes a bath and the POTUS takes a 17 day vacation, the boys are back in the past taking on the century. We get an amazing visit for comedy legend Will Ferrell, Jon and Ice Cube share an affinity for the Sega Dreamcast and Vance goes deep undercover to explain why his lap dance isn't hot & flakey. There's certainly some garbage here – looking at you, Lewis – and Stacey mocks a poor struggling wannabe rock star. But maybe tomorrow will be a brighter day. Also, Michael Stipe is TOTALLY on the Bill Bradley bandwagon. Joe Montana guests. AUGUST 5, 2017 - It's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY PODCAST, a rewatch hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! IN THE YEAR 2000, the boys have made it past the graveyard of unimportance the new millennium! But before they go back in time, there's plenty of 2017 sillies to go around: down goes Spicer, in comes The Mooch, DOWN GOES THE MOOCH??! After 10 fabulous days, the world lost the human Poochie and the comedy world mourned a star. In 2000, Jon Stewart is on a roll – he's getting chewed out by Y2K Vance, he's promoted Lewis Black to correspondent (only to have him visit a Japanese strip club) and Steve Carell delivers a field piece comprised of nearly 2 full minutes of just him laughing. Plus, will Stephen Colbert ever return from England? Cythia Nixon, Robbie Williams and The Belz guest, and Jon gets a very special friendship gift.
