Hail Satire! with Vic Shuttee

JANUARY 22, 2017 - It's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY PODCAST, a rewatch hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! Oh boy. As the Trump transition has been swift in 2017, 1999 is strolling at a casual pace. We're beginning to shed the glut of Craig Kilburn references, as new traditions are slowly being born. Monica-gate rages on, we meet new contributors Tom Shillue and Rich Brown, David Allen Grier gives Jon a hard time about getting TDS over him and we have our first reference to Denny's, for what that's worth. And Jesus Christ, William Baldwin is considered a political insider! Oh times, how you've changed. Carmen Electra and REM's Michael Stipe are also interviewed, and Jon goes deep in way-back machine to uncover Monica Lewinsky's theatre background. The Daily Show Weekly: A Vic and Chandler Rewatch is an unofficial fan podcast designed to serve as a critical companion to the "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart", which belongs to Comedy Central and can be watched in clips at CC.com. Our thoughts and criticism are intended to offer historical reflection and enhance the viewing experience for new and old fans journeying through Jon Stewart's seminal talk show run. Our awesome album artwork is designed by Felipe Flores Comics, and our theme music is by Michael Turnage!

JANUARY 16, 2017 - It's THE DAILY SHOW WEEKLY PODCAST, a rewatch hosted by Vic Shuttee (@VicShuttee) and Chandler Dean (@chandlerjdean)! It's the dawn of an era - two eras to be exact. As Vic and Chandler embark on their mighty quest to see all the Jon Stewart there is, there is uncertainty in their own time. Four days from Donald Trump's presumed inauguration and 2017 really is a hot mess. Only time will tell at this point. But in 1999, a leather-jacket wearing stand-up named Jon has taken over the decidedly unremarkable Daily Show from his predecessor Craig Kilborn. This week is full of firsts: Stephen Colbert, Lewis Black, Beth Littleford, Mo Rocca and Vance Degeneres all make their debuts, with varying success. There's good Florida jokes, and there are bad ones. And of course, there is the slow agonizing death of the Kilborn staple: Five Questions. Michael J. Fox, Sandra Berhard, Tracey Ullman, and Gillian Anderson are interviewed, and the Jon Stewart masterpiece PLAYING BY HEART is discussed.
