If an election were to take place today, the federal Conservatives would capture enough seats in the House of Commons to form a majority government, new monthly projections from Nanos Research shows. The federal government will announce new guidelines Thursday aimed at cutting back on the use of outside consultants, a move that is part of an effort to shave about $15-billion from existing spending plans. The Conservatives lost their bid to strike down all existing federal carbon taxes, but the move is notable nonetheless because a lone Liberal joined their effort. Could this signify what is to come, and how the winds are shifting on energy? The goal was dropping food prices by Thanksgiving. Poilievre has roasted Trudeau about this in parliament, but just before showtime we got word that there is a price freeze in the works.
