Beautiful Scars, the documentary on the life of Hamilton’s Tom Wilson – based on his memoir of the same name – opens at the Playhouse Cinema this evening. Almost half of Canadians are doing worse than they were last year, financially, according to new polling from the Angus Reid Institute. Ukraine and Moldova have both been granted EU candidate status, President of the European Council Charles Michel has announced. Roe v. Wade has been officially overturned in the United States by the nation’s supreme court. Members of Parliament in Canada are heading home to their ridings after the House of Commons agreed to rise for the summer on Thursday afternoon. Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced his new, 30-person cabinet Friday, including former solicitor general Sylvia Jones as deputy premier and health minister, as well as a role for his nephew. We get a breakdown of what is happening in the United States, as we learn that the U.S. Supreme Courts has officially overturned Roe v. Wade. MPs will hold a hearing next month into allegations that RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki, at the request of the Liberal government, tried to put pressure on Mounties investigating the Nova Scotia mass shooting to help advance Ottawa’s gun-control agenda.
