While preparing for the big mower race, Hank gets a backache and visits a doctor who diagnoses him with Diminished Gluteal Syndrome (DGS)—a genetic condition resulting in "no ass". Hank, who is usually the leader among his friends, is forced to wear a saline orthotic, leading to an iconic visual gag of his "puckered" little butt. This health issue immediately plunges Hank into public humiliation from his friends (especially Dale, the episode's villain), but it also introduces him to a supportive secret society of fellow DGS sufferers. We dissect Hank's struggle to accept his vulnerability, Peggy's cunning methods to get him help, and how Bobby provides the motivation for Hank to overcome his fear of ridicule.
