This is topic we’ve honestly shied away from publicly, but it’s a conversation we really need to have. Because we realize there are so many out there with similar stories. So many people are turning away from the Evangelical Christian Church, and we have a lot of thoughts as to why. Because we are some of them. January 12, 2022 This is 40... The Milestone Nobody Wants
It’s a new year, and with it comes our birthdays! This year, Matt turns the big 4-0 (Dynae did last year) and we’ve got to say, things are definitely interesting. We wouldn’t call our turning 40 a full blown mid life crisis, but we for sure get why some people would! From changing the way we parent and having teens now, to not even feeling like full adults yet (right, all you elder Millennials?) we are totally relating to the movie these days. I mean, we have to actually pay attention to our cholesterol now. Who wants that?! But along with physical health stuff we never really worried about before, there’s this whole shift that seems to happen at this age when it comes to what we want to do in life, and how we feel about it all. June 01, 2021 Therapy is NOT a Dirty Word - The Importance of Mental Health
We’ve recently been going to couple’s therapy recently and it’s really opened our eyes. We are doing fine as a couple, but it’s kind of like a tune up for your car. Everything seems to be fine, but under the hood there may be need cleaned up to make it continue to be fine. Like unpacking childhood trauma. So fun, right? We’ve never personally tried therapy in the past to be honest, but this past year has been a huge struggle for so many people, and we’ve been going through some of our own personal struggles for sure. You don’t want to wait until a crisis happens to seek help when you can see it coming. Several members of our family are diagnosed with anxiety, depression and ADD, so our little family knows first hand the importance of maintaining good mental health.
