EPISODE 151 | Happily Healed w/ Tenille 🎙️
Come With Us: Your First Step Into Lupus Advocacy⭐
This week’s episode is personal and powerful.
Returning guest Christopher Reed (Lupus Foundation of America – Georgia Chapter) is back, and this time we’re talking LUPUS ADVOCACY. What it actually looks like, why it matters, and how policy decisions directly impact our lives.
🗓 Monday, February 2, 2026
⏰ 12 PM EST | 11 AM CST | 10 AM MST | 9 AM PST
🗓 February 19 = Lupus Advocacy Day at the Georgia Capitol
We’ll be at the Capitol speaking directly with lawmakers about:
• Increased funding for lupus research
• Expanding Medicaid to 138% of the federal poverty level
• Ensuring affordable, accessible healthcare
• Certifying & supporting Community Health Workers (CHWs)
One critical bill we’ll break down:
HB 291 — a bill that would formally recognize Community Health Workers as essential members of Georgia’s healthcare system, creating a certification process, expanding where CHWs can serve, and providing the training, support, and financial stability they need to continue life-saving work.
This conversation matters because advocacy saves lives.
Chris was originally scheduled to join us for our “Kidneys for the Holidays” episode, but he was hospitalized at the time. He is still waiting for a compatible kidney transplant, and I’ll have all of his links available so you can learn more and see if you might be a match.
