We turn to the sixth chapter of Matthew this week, continuing our Sermon on the Mount series. Here, Jesus talks about practicing righteousness. What does it mean to practice righteousness and why should we care? Pastor Seth unpacks both of these questions in our sermon this week.

Jesus calls us to love our enemies, not just the people who we find it easy to love. Why? Because this is what true love is and Jesus displays this perfectly when he died for us, sinners and enemies of God. Who is God calling you to love this week?

Guest speaker, Peter Larson, continues our Sermon on the Mount series preaching out of Matthew 5:38-42 where Jesus addresses how a Christian should respond to insult, being taken advantage of, and being abused by authority. Our distorted hearts desire to respond in worldly ways but Jesus calls us to a kingdom, not of this world and its actions.

In our Bible text today, Jesus addresses our words, commitments, and how little power, ability, and control we actually have to fulfill any of it. But do not despair! The gospel provides two truths that give us hope as we pray about what we are and what we are not committed to.

We continue our Sermon on the Mount series with Pastor Seth walking through Matthew 5:31-32 where Jesus addresses the topic of divorce. We come to see that Jesus' purpose of the conversation is less about divorce and more about purpose and faithfulness. Is your life filled with love or infatuation?
