We close out our 1 Timothy series with a message about physical riches in this life and spiritual riches in the life to come. Where is your focus in relation to these? We also talked about the entire letter from Paul to Timothy and how Timothy could have felt overwhelmed at all Paul was tasking him with. We too, can become overwhelmed with the realities of life and become paralyzed by our sin, our anxieties, and life's frustrations. We must remember that God is always with us and his grace abounds.

What does it mean to be a man or woman of God? And what is a person of God called to? Pastor Seth continues our series through 1 Timothy looking at Paul's charge to Timothy to be a good soldier of the Christian faith. He also reveals the four rules of spiritual combat every good soldier must follow to be successful in spiritual battle.

Pastor Seth Winterhalter walks through three ways we can care for our elders out of 1 Timothy 5:17-25. The reason we care for them is because we know them to be faithful servants of God who desire to grow in sanctification and maturation as they lead the family of God, serving as examples. We see at the close of this passage that every one of our lives will bear fruit. The question is, will it be rotten fruit or good fruit.

The Bible has much to say regarding our interactions with each other. As we continue our series in 1 Timothy we come to Paul's instructions on how we are to encourage each other rather than grow frustrated and verbally offensive. Paul also talks about how we are to care for each other going into extensive detail about what caring for our family members looks like and how the church family cares for those who are without family.

We continue our journey through 1 Timothy looking at Paul's encouragement to Timothy that he be a good servant of Christ Jesus. Pastor Seth walks through the three actions every servant of Jesus takes to ensure health and fruitfulness. The Harbor Church family met together on Sunday Evening, March 26th, to review all that God had done in us and through us during 2016 and to look ahead to the vision for 2017 and beyond.

We continue through the Apostle Paul's letter to Timothy and the church in Ephesus picking up at chapter four where Paul talks about people who will depart from the Christian faith because they want the benefits of Jesus without the new life he calls us to. The church needs leaders who are in a vibrant relationship with Jesus and who are rooted to the truth found in the Bible in order to preach and teach toward health and fruitfulness. Teaching that tickles our ears might please us in the moment but will ultimately lead to an eternity apart from God.

We tackle two subjects today that work in tandem, the significance of the church and the supremacy of Jesus. What is the church? Is it important? Can I be a Christian and love Jesus without the church? We also look into the mystery that is God. He is not a mystery because he is unknown to humanity, he is a mystery because his actions confound us.

We continue our series through 1 Timothy by continuing to talk through church leadership. Today, we focus on the role of a deacon and how they serve both the elders and the church. Pastor Seth talks through the three primary responsibilities of a deacon and walks through the qualifications for those who will serve as deacons. He also addresses the topic of women in church leadership, specifically if they are able to serve as deacons.
