    Podcast Opening:

Welcome to HardWodder Radio Episode 25. I am Jason Archer… founder of HardWodder, creator, freedom seeker, leader of self and this tribe of those giving all they have for all they want… and today we’re talking with Entrepreneur, Coach and Father, Mycal Anders, regarding his growth in all those categories.

So, turn up the volume, put down the distractions and let’s kick this off…

    Inside:

Quote: “CrossFit by and large is type A fire-breathers… they are attracted to this style of training. But when you get to the fundamental truth of it all, if you want a good workout, doing it with proper technique when a week ago you didn’t is just as hard as doing it prescribed and sloppy as shit. “

Mycal is doing big things in his life and business and I would bet money his results were greatly influenced by the fact that his Dad had him reading philosophy and personal development books when he was a kid.

Starting that young with the principles that so many have used to create success, it’s no wonder the he created a work ethic and mindset that would lead him into a successful military career, collegiate football, and ultimately into entrepreneurship.

Mycal is the owner of Crossfit PHX, where he has created a culture of excellence and a collection of systems that have allowed him to grow and be voted the #1 Crossfit Gym in the States in 2017 by Men’s Journal.

With the release of his second book, Inner Circle, Mycal continues his growth by sharing the lessons he’s learned over the years in print in hopes to impact more lives.

We’re proud to welcome him in studio today.

Welcome to HardWodder Radio Episode 23. I am Jason Archer… founder of HardWodder, creator, freedom seeker, leader of self and this tribe of those giving all they have for all they want… and today we’re talking with Michael Roviello in part 2 of our conversations about his path from the Navy to seeking total wellness.

So, turn up the volume, put down the distractions and let’s kick this off…

    Inside:

Quote: “The Kingdom of God is not at Church… it is within. So, what are we doing for our inner practice. If we are not doing anything for any sort of inner practice, then we aren’t connecting with that at all.”

Michael is a New York native, now residing in Arizona. He is a twice decorated Naval Aviation Warfare Vet, Plant Medicine advocate, Wim Hof instructor and owner at Optimyze, a newly constructed wellness center here in the valley.

His journey is an interesting one… hailing from a single parent home of 4 kids, Michael sought a way out of his environment by going into the service where he excelled and won 2 medals before retiring and entering civilian life.

A successful guy, he began to search for meaning by filling his life with things and seeking status, but along the way an injury would open his eyes to the world of alternative medicine, ultimately guiding him toward certifications with Wim Hof and plant medicine ceremonies which opened him up to new levels of introspection.

In this episode, part 2 of our time together, we dive deep into what an Ayahuasca ceremony looks like, its history, and its efficacy. And, from there we go into some of the science behind the Wim Hof method and how it can help you get into a focused and altered state as well as the health benefits.

Barrett takes us through the rigors of playing college football. The speed and pace of the game and how he had to adapt both physically and mentally.

We talk about TBI or Traumatic Brain Injury. How hitting thousands of times of the course of a football career cause him to lose cognition and develop a stutter.

A new father, his priorities have shifted… listen in and learn in what way.

Enjoy the episode… and be sure to invite others to do the same.

Quick Bio: Barrett has been involved in fitness since the age of 12 where he competed in Arizona power lifting competitions, fitness competitions, and coaching. He gained further fitness success while playing college football as an Offensive Guard for the University of Nevada, Reno. While there he earned his way onto the WAC all conference team, and the University’s Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the year (Alpha Wolf). Post college he began CrossFit while looking for a Strength and Conditioning Coaching career. With his knowledge of coaching in the Strength, and Weightlifting arena, he has been coaching CrossFit groups, individuals, and sports teams since 2007 and focuses on individual efficiencies through technique, and strength training while peppering in traditional CrossFit metcons and Kettlebell work.
