  • History of the Room of Requirement in Hogwarts (Who Created It?!)
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing the history of the Room of Requirement and the mystery of who created it.Located along the left hand corridor on the seventh floor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the Room of Requirement is an ever-elusive chamber that only appears when it is truly needed by someone who just so happens to be passing by. When such a need is sensed by the Room, its hidden entrance is said to appear right across the hallway from the castle's well-known tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy--the one which portrays his ill-advised attempt to teach the ballet to a group of trolls. But how long as this mysterious room been around for? And more importantly, who created it?Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • History of the Great Lake & Giant Squid - Harry Potter Explained
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing the history of the Black Lake, as well as one of its most mysterious and infamous inhabitants--the giant squid. The Black Lake--otherwise known as the Great Lake--is a large body of fresh water that sits landlocked upon the grounds of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, just south of the school's castle. Its waters can be seen directly from the castle, as it is located below the school itself. For those of you who are familiar with the other wilderness areas that surround Hogwarts castle, such as the Forbidden Forest, it is rather well known that the school's grounds offer a home to many magical beasts and creatures. Acting as more than just the castle's plumbing receptacle, the Black Lake is no exception, granting shelter to a large number of inhabitants, including a village of Merpeople, an abundance of vicious little Grindylows, and, of course, the legendary Giant Squid. ...Watch the video for the restSocials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • How Did Dumbledore IMMEDIATELY Know About the Potters' Murders?
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing how Dumbledore knew what happened in the Potter residence in Godric's Hollow the night that Voldemort murdered Lily and James, and attempted to kill Harry. In the past, I've discussed how Dumbledore was able to figure out how Harry survived Voldemort's Killing Curse--which if you haven't watched yet, you can go check it out after this video:.In that video, I went over the ways in which Professor Dumbledore likely uncovered the exact events of that fateful evening and how he was able to be sure that it was Lily's sacrifice that saved Harry's life. But in today's video, I'll be covering what happened before all that, digging into how Dumbledore even KNEW that something had happened within the Potter's home to begin with.To start, since the Potters had enlisted Peter Pettigrew as a Secret Keeper, it stands to reason that Dumbledore shouldn't have even known--or been able to find--the location of the Potters' home in Godric's Hollow, as it was was protected by the Fidelius Charm--a very powerful spell which conceals information within a witch or wizard's soul, who in this case was Pettigrew. This is further supported by the fact that James' best friend, Sirius Black, insisted that he NOT be the Potters' Secret Keeper, since he believed it would be too obvious if he were to know their whereabouts. This seems to clearly suggest that Sirius did NOT know where Lily, James and Harry were. And if Sirius didn't know...why would Dumbledore have known? And, if he did know, why not just make him the Secret Keeper?Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • The Most Powerful Bloodline In Harry Potter: Dumbledore's Relation to Merlin
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing the likelihood of whether or not Albus Dumbledore, famed Hogwarts' Headmaster, was a descendent of--quite possibly--the MOST famous wizard known to us Muggles, Merlin.Other than being the most prominent and well-loved Headmaster to ever grace the hallowed halls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Albus Dumbledore was also one of the most powerful and respected wizards of his time. In fact, he even received the Order of Merlin, First Class for defeating the Dark Wizard Grindelwald. Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • Everything You Need to Know About Lupin and Sirius' Friendship - Harry Potter Explained
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing everything you need to know about Remus Lupin and Sirius Black's friendship.Although neither Remus nor Sirius are central characters in the Harry Potter series in the same way that Harry, Ron, Hermione, or even Dumbledore are, they are certainly among some of the most well known wizards within the franchise. And while each of them laid claim to being best friends with Harry's departed father, James Potter, there's not too much focus on the duo's friendship with EACH OTHER, which is what we'll be focusing on in today's video.Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • Who Could Be The NEXT Great Dark Wizard? - Harry Potter Theory
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing who could be the next GREAT dark witch or wizard.Throughout the Harry Potter series, we are introduced to many evil witches and wizards who commit great and terrible crimes. From the likes of Barty Crouch Junior to Bellatrix Lestrange, both of whom were loyal Death Eaters who tortured, killed and brutalised other witches and wizards in the name of Lord Voldemort, there was no shortage of evil people during Harry's time as a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But, of course, the DARKEST wizard of that time was none other than Voldemort, who literally went by the name "The Dark Lord". His crimes and offences against wizardkind went beyond any other during his lifetime. And before Voldemort, there was another great and powerful dark wizard--Gellert Grindelwald. And while, of course, there were other witches and wizards who practised the dark arts during Grindelwald's rise to power, none were quite as ruthless as Gellert himself.Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • Why Were the Weasleys Called Blood TRAITORS? - Harry Potter Explained
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing why Ron Weasley and his entire family were often referred to by other pureblood wizarding families as "blood traitors".In the very first instalment of the Harry Potter series, we meet just about every member of the Weasley family almost right at the beginning of Harry's first-ever journey to Hogwarts. After Harry approaches Molly, Percy, Fred, George, Ron and Ginny to ask for help finding Platform 9 3/4 at King's Cross Station, it becomes instantly clear that the Weasleys are a warm, friendly bunch who are willing to help out a stranger--no questions asked. From there, the Weasley family's inclination towards being friendly and helpful only becomes more evident, with Ron and Harry getting along famously as they journey together to school on the Hogwarts Express and go on to spend almost the entire school year by each other's side. And as the years go on, Harry spends more and more time with not only Ron, but the entire Weasley family, being invited to stay over at their house in The Burrows during the holidays and even for other special events and occasions like Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour's wedding. In Harry's eyes, the Weasleys are wonderful, LOYAL people. So, why is it that some witches and wizards have accused the Weasley family of being "blood traitors"? What exactly does that mean?Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • What Were the GOLD Flames Harry Shot at Voldemort? - Harry Potter Explained
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing what exactly those GOLD flames were that Harry shot at Voldemort during The Battle of the Seven Potters.Throughout the series, we are introduced to a many number of spells, charms and curses. And, typically, when a witch or wizard casts or conjures any magic of this kind, it's associated with an incantation and some physical manifestation of magic shooting out of the caster's wand. For example, the most well-known dark arts spell of all time is The Killing Curse, one of the three Unforgivable Curses, which is conjured with "Avada Kedavra" and results in a jet of bright green light coming out of the witch or wizard's wand. By contrast, there are also many famous spells that are conjured for good, such as the Patronus Charm, which can be cast by saying "Expecto Patronum" and which releases magic in the form of an animal, unique to each witch or wizard, and made of a silver, vapour-like substance. So, while we typically know what spell an individual is trying to conjure based on the incantation and what comes out of their wand, this isn't always the case. In The Deathly Hallows, we once again see Harry come up against Lord Voldemort, and the resulting magic is confusing...at least at first.Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • Why Hermione's Intelligence Is OVERRATED - Harry Potter Explained
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing why the celebrated mind of Miss Hermione Granger is in fact OVERRATED.Hermione Granger is one of the main characters of Harry Potter right from the beginning of the series. And while she may also be one of the more intelligent characters that we meet, her reputation for being the cleverest witch of her age is, in my opinion, a little bit of a stretch. And while I'm not saying that she wasn't smart--she was--she wasn't AS clever as I think many fans have made her out to be.Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory
