  • How Did Ginny Block Bellatrix's Killing Curse? - Harry Potter Explained
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing how in the name of Merlin's Beard GINNY Weasley was able to block BELLATRIX Lestrange's Avada Kedavra curse. As many of you will know, Avada Kedavra is one of--if not THE--most lethal curse to exist within the entire Wizarding World. As one of the three Unforgivable Curses that were classified as such and banned from use in 1717, Avada Kedavra is a deadly spell that is also known as simply The Killing Curse. Created with potent Dark Magic, these three spells are both extremely strong and extremely sinister with the entire purpose of The Killing Curse being to eliminate its target. And with the exception of Harry Potter, no witch or wizard who has been hit with the Avada Kedavra curse has ever survived. What's more, there is actually no magical way to protect oneself against this particular curse. That is to say, there's no counter-curse or shield spell that's powerful enough to block Avada Kedavra. In fact, the only way to avoid the effects of The Killing Curse and not die upon contact is to literally AVOID the curse. This means that one can only survive Avada Kedavra if they jump out of the way or hide behind a solid enough object like a wall or boulder. Which brings us back around to the question of how in the fiery pits of HELL did a sixth-year student block a Killing Curse cast by one of the most powerful Death Eaters in Voldemort's army?!Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • Everything Voldemort Did Between His First Defeat and Second Rise to Power (1981-1991)
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing everything that Lord Voldemort did in the years between his first and second rise to power.Of course, there are many things--from bad to worse, to absolutely horrifying--that Voldemort did as a young Tom Riddle and, of course, in his adult years after he had officially become the Dark Lord. But much mystery surrounds the decade and a bit that took place between his fall at the infant feet of one-year-old Harry Potter in 1981 and what I would argue was his official "return" in 1995.Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • Why Don't More Harry Potter Characters Return as GHOSTS?
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today we're discussing why more characters in Harry Potter don't return as ghosts after they die.Very early on in the series, we are introduced to the concept of ghosts within the wizarding world of Harry Potter--as we meet the many spirits who roam the halls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry almost immediately upon Harry's arrival to the castle in his first year. These spirits are represented as transparent apparitions who resemble the witch or wizard that they were while they were part of the world of the living. Being that they are transparent, they are able to pass through solid objects, such as walls, furniture and even people. Muggles are unable to see these ghosts as magical folks can, but since they cause disturbances in fire and water and cause the temperature in the air to drop, their presence is typically felt by anyone nearby, regardless of whether they can see them or not. It is said that to have a ghost pass through you feels as though a bucket of freezing cold water has been dumped upon your entire body!Within the wizarding world, it's also widely known that Muggles are unable to return as ghosts, and that only someone with magical abilities may come back as these shadow versions of their living selves. As described by the Gryffindor ghost Nearly Headless Nick..."Wizards can leave an imprint of themselves upon the earth, to walk palely where their living selves once trod," said Nick miserably. "But very few wizards choose that path."Which brings us to the answer as to why more characters don't return as ghosts.Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • How Did Snape's Tears Have Pensieve Abilities? - Harry Potter Explained
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing how Severus Snape's tears had Pensieve abilities when he shared them with Harry before his death in the final instalment of the series. For those of you who need a little reminder, I'll quickly review the meaning and usage of a Pensieve. Considered a very rare magical device, a Pensieve is used by witches and wizards to store and review memories. During Harry Potter's time at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he is introduced to the concept of Pensieves in his fourth year after Professor Dumbledore shows him the one that is always kept in the Headmaster's office, explaining to Harry...Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • Would Voldemort Really Have SPARED Lily? - Harry Potter Theory
Hey everyone,Welcome to another instalment of Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing whether or not Lord Voldemort really would have SPARED Lily Potter the fateful night that he went to murder Harry in Godric's Hollow.Voldemort is known within the wizarding world as one of--if not THE--most evil and powerful dark wizard to have ever lived. Throughout the Harry Potter series, we see him take life after life without giving it a second thought. Oftentimes Voldemort is seen exacting revenge, punishing insubordination or disloyalty, or torturing information out of innocents--but sometimes he simply killed people just for the sport of it. • Did Snape Know Harry Was a Horcrux? - Harry Potter Theory
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we're discussing whether or not Professor Snape ever knew that Harry was one of Lord Voldemort's Horcuxes.A complicated wizard with only somewhat less complicated allegiances, Severus Snape is one of those characters whose true intentions we didn't learn until the very end of the series. As he lay dying in front of Harry Potter after Voldemort had cut him down, we at long last were given his version of the truth--he had been on Harry's side all along. But throughout his life, Snape's loyalties certainly did waver. He went from Lily Evan's best friend to a reverent young Death Eater, only to inevitably become a double agent whose true allegiances lay with Albus Dumbledore and The Order of the Phoenix--a role which left Snape in a rather precarious position on both sides. Many of Voldemort's Death Eaters questioned him and just about every member of The Order of the Phoenix distrusted him, with the exception of Dumbledore. But even though Dumbledore trusted Snape, the question in today's video is--did he tell Severus all that he knew? Considering the following exchange between the two wizards, it would seem that he did not...Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • Daniel Radcliffe BREAKS SILENCE on Harry Potter REBOOT
Hey everyone, welcome to another installment of Harry Potter Theory. I just wanted to make this very brief video discussing a bit of news pertaining to Daniel Radcliffe- the original Boy-Who-Lived, and the upcoming (well, not quite so upcoming) Harry Potter TV Show Reboot.Since the show's announcement in April there's been a lot of speculation about the show. When's it coming out? What's it going to BE about? Is it going to stay true to the books? But perhaps one of the biggest questions is..WHO is going to be in it? More specifically, WILL it include any of the old Harry Potter stars? And in my view, this question applies to Daniel Radcliffe more than anyone. Daniel Radcliffe was the star of the show for a decade- which begs the question, will we see him in the Wizarding World's next chapter? As it happens, Radcliffe answered this question in a recent interview with ET...Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • Why Was McGonagall ALLOWED to Give Harry a Nimbus 2000? - Harry Potter Theory
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing why Professor McGonagall was allowed to give Harry Potter a Nimbus Two Thousand broomstick during his first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Now, other than the fact that the best broomstick on the market seems like an inappropriate gift from a professor--not to mention an extreme display of favouritism--why was it such a big deal that she provided Harry with a Nimbus Two Thousand?Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • What Happens to the Souls Dementors EAT? - Harry Potter Theory
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing what in Merlin's Beard happens to a person's soul after it's been EATEN by a Dementor.Dementors are some of the darkest magical beings that we encounter in the entire wizarding world throughout the Harry Potter series. They are completely terrifying to look upon with their appearance being somewhat ghoul-like with skin that's "glistening, greyish, slimy-looking and scabbed, like something dead that has decayed in water" and eyes that are not really eyes but "thin, grey, scabbed skin, stretched blankly over empty sockets" and mouths that are more of a "gaping, shapeless hole, sucking the air with the sound of a death-rattle".And that's not all. In addition to their horrifying contenance, their mere presence is enough to make any environment devoid of joy or warmth, for they have the ability to turn the air intensely cold and consume any nearby thoughts of happiness. After Harry's first encounter with Dementors on the Hogwarts Express in 1993, Professor Remus Lupin explains their existence to Harry..."Dementors are among the foulest creatures that walk this earth. They infest the darkest, filthiest places, they glory in decay and despair, they drain peace, hope and happiness out of the air around them. Even Muggles feel their presence, though they can't see them. Get too near a Dementor and every good feeling, every happy memory, will be sucked out of you. If it can, the Dementor will feed on you long enough to reduce you to something like itself - soulless and evil. You'll be left with nothing but the worst experiences of your life."As we later learn, the latter part of Lupin's description of Dementors describes what is known within the wizarding world as The Dementor's Kiss, sometimes called simply The Kiss. And while this morbid act is typically reserved for condemned criminals, it is feared by witches and wizards as a punishment worse than death. The resulting condition of someone who has received The Kiss is a vegetative state in which the person is still alive but basically just a shell of their former self. But if that's what happens to a person's BODY after The Dementor's Kiss, what happens to their SOUL after it has been taken by a Dementor. Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory

  • Why Did Griphook BETRAY the Trio? - Harry Potter Explained
Welcome to Harry Potter Theory. Today, we'll be discussing why the cantankerous goblin named Griphook betrayed Harry, Ron and Hermione during the events of The Deathly Hallows. Before we can answer this question, however, we must first cover how these three friends managed to get into a position in which a goblin was able to betray them. As many of you will know, the Wizarding World has a rather long-standing historical distrust of goblins, and vice versa. So, how did this agreement even come to pass?Socials: https://linktr.ee/hptheory
