The focal point of our teaching today is “finding rest when we disconnect.”

Technology, smart phones and social media are not inherently evil… they can be used for a lot of good, there are many benefits and advancements that come along with it.

However, Being mastered by it, is a problem and there are consequences when we are mastered by anything outside of God, His word and His Spirit.

As a society and world we are moving at such a fast pace, culture is changing so rapidly, the work load is increasing, companies have figured out how to cater to work from home so now if you’re sick or something comes up you can still work rather than rest, the demands put on our children has increased exponentially and with technological advancements we are connected 24/7 the text messages and emails continue to pour in and if a meeting doesn’t fit into the regular 9-5 with things like facetime, Microsoft teams or google meeting we can fill after hours with more work or extra meetings that didn’t fit in to an earlier time slot.

What is Stewardship? Well, biblical stewardship recognizes everything God has entrusted to us is His and He wants whatever He has entrusted to us to multiply and serve His purposes.

We are familiar with stewarding failure, or stewarding loss. When someone goes through a difficult situation where things didn’t work out the way that they intended or they go through the loss of a job- we as Christians know how to surround them and weep with them, mourn with them, comfort and console them.

But when it comes to people of success, when they begin to discuss their challenges or difficulties, we typically respond with a harsh word – “must be nice.” Or “I wish I had your problems.”

Last week we discussed stewarding children and we ended by talking about developing character in our children and that you and I need to be examples of that righteous character.

Today Pastor Donnie would like to teach the “how” behind the “what.”

Descriptions such as “man of principle” and “woman of integrity” are assertions of character. A lack of character is recognized as moral deficiency, and persons lacking character tend to behave dishonestly, unethically, and uncharitably.

Character is what you really are, reputation is merely what people think you are.

We are continuing our study on the topic of Stewardship - our topic this week is “Stewarding Children.”

Parenting doesn’t reach a certain plateau of ease after which we can relax and coast. If anything as our children get older, the stakes are higher. The difference is, when we steward parenthood in a Biblical way the difficult challenges won’t have the power to knock you off of your feet.

How did we get to where we are as a nation? How did we arrive at this place of brokenness, confusion, wrong being called right, right being called wrong and sin becoming normalized?

In Recent years there has been a movement within Christianity that is under the false belief that the righteous thing to do is to obey those in authority no matter what, that those who are in authority over is are always correct, there is a belief that the righteous thing to do as a Christian, American citizen is to pull our beliefs out of government, out of the education system so that people can freely choose whatever they want.
