It may come as a big surprise to some of you, but I have a personality/character short coming. One of them is that I can get pretty frustrated at people being stupid, especially as it pertains to how they park or how they drive.

Not too long ago, I had a realization that was kind of troubling because I know it is true of me and I’m pretty sure it will be true of you as well. Why is it that the thing we need the most is usually the thing we are the most terrified by?

What does it mean to live the “Christian life, the Spirit-filled life?” For some it means going to church, reading your bible, active in prayer, or maybe going to a small group/bible study. If this is your understanding you’re not alone, nor would you be wrong; it is all those things, but it is also so much more.

I just laugh at the commercials about people who get roasted because of their name. Like the guy at the airport and the lady at the ticket counter asks him, “Is your name really Chris P. Bacon?” Names in the bible can be a big deal; where else can you get names like Gomer and Nimrod? This morning I want to talk to you about how a name can impact your life.

Sunday isn’t coming. Sunday’s HERE!!! It’s been a roller coaster of emotional events for the followers of Jesus. From the joyful celebration of Palm Sunday to the horror of Good Friday and the darkness of despair and doubt, now to be replaced once again with incredible joy. Jesus Christ has risen!!!

Last week we introduced the topic of The Fragrance of Worship, as we talked about Jesus being anointed by having a bottle of expensive perfume broken open as an act of sacrificial worship. This happened just days before the events we will talk about today.

This morning I want to talk to you about The Fragrance of Worship. Worship that can seem over the top.  Worship that makes people uncomfortable with its intimacy. Worship that doesn’t count the cost. Worship that honors Him.

This morning we will wrap up the series “A Workman Approved” where we have been talking about the characteristics of a person living a life that honors God and gives testimony to the Spirit-filled life.

Last week we began a series called A Workman Approved and we have been using as our text a letter written by the Apostle Paul to a young pastor named Timothy. This morning I want to talk to you about the next two characteristics: One who avoids godless chatter. One who flees the evil desires of youth.

Don’t you just hate job reviews? They can be so intimidating. You can think you have been doing a good job, but they had something else in mind, or the other way around.
