The resurrection power of Christ in us who have died to sin, is a power that enables us to a whole new lifestyle, Paul writes about this when he explains that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. We are able to conquer the impossible because of this resurrection power we have received through Christ Paul still encourages us today when he explains this power through Christ:

“God can do anything, you know–far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.”

(Eph 3:20 MSG)

Die Bybel is ‘n boek oor verhoudings. God is in wese ‘n drie-enige verhouding. Sonde is die dade wat verhoudings skade bring en verwoes.  Sonde het hoofsaaklik vier verhoudings verwoes: ons verhouding met God, met onsself, met mekaar en met die skepping.  Christus is God in mensvorm, om ons te wys hoe om al hierdie verhoudinge te herstel. Hy is die bemiddelaar en tussenganger wat ons verhouding met God herstel het, deur Sy eie lewe as offer te gee vir ons sonde en oortredinge.  Die hele skepping is in verhouding met al die dele van die skepping.  Die skepping is dus een groot verhouding van verhoudings! As een lid weggeneem word, affekteer dit die geheel.  God is dus ons antwoord en bloudruk vir verhoudings. Hoe meer ons nader aan hom leef, en in dieper verbondenheid met Hom leef, hoe gesonder en reg is ons verhoudings.  Om die Here te dien maak ons mooier mense: die vrug van die Gees, Jesus se voorbeeld wys ons hoe om in vergifnis en waarheid te leef.

Relationships are hard, exhausting, unpredictable, and time-consuming, which is one reason too many of us enjoy relationships with the lifespan of fruit flies. Relationships don’t come to us like Christmas packages, all neatly wrapped with ribbons and bows. Relationships come more to us like an abused package from the post office: ripped, torn, its guts spilling out, the contents often broken. (Beautiful, Leonard Sweet)

Seksuele sondes is ’n donker ‘abyss’ van misbruik, geweld en verwoesting. God het ons seksuele drange gegee omdat dit goed is, sodat ons geestelik, emosioneel maar ook fisies EEN met ons huweliksmaat kan raak. Ons verwelkom Sy lig, want as kinders van die lig het ons nodig dat Sy lig ons genees en al hoe nader bring na die Son van geregtigheid met genesing in Sy strale. Die Bybel lys al die sondes, maar wat is God se hart, wat is Sy begeerte vir ons?

Die kern van al die bogenoemde sondes is die fokus op self. “Self idolatry” Ek word die God, en ek moet aanbid word, ek moet kry, my wil, my plesier.

The firmness of Jesus

Kindness and Firmness at the Same Time is the basis of healthy parenting or mentoring.
Jesus is love, the ultimate presence of kindness and the gentle healer. Yet He is also strict, firm, stern and straight. Kindness is an important and vital gift of the spirit, a powerful weapon to change people. But the balance of kindness is firmness, consistency, unwavering, rightness.
