About Harvey's guest:
Today’s special guest, William Sadler, is a multi-award-winning actor who’s delivered dozens of memorable performances in a career spanning 5 decades.
On Broadway, he originated the role of “Sgt. Merwin J. Toomey” in Neil Simon's Tony Award winning play "Biloxi Blues", for which he was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play.
On the big screen, he’s perhaps best remembered for his stellar performances in “Die Hard 2”, “Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey”, “Rush”, “The Shawshank Redemption”, “The Green Mile”, “Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight”, “Kinsey”, “Purple Heart”, “August Rush”, “Iron Man 3”, “A Stage of Twilight”, “The Historian”, and the highly acclaimed short film, “Shoot me Nicely”, which won a whole slew of prestigious film festival awards.
On television, he was “Lieutenant Charlie Fontana” in “Private Eye”, he was “Sheriff Jim Valenti” in “Rosswell”, he was “Darrin Tyler” in “Wonderfalls”, he was “Tony Teresi” in “Power”, he played “Gino Fish” in 6 “Jessie Stone” movies, and of course, every Trekkie knows that our guest was “Director Luther Sloan” in “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”. He’s also guest starred in dozens of classic TV series including “Newhart”, “In the Heat of the Night”, “St. Elsewhere”, “Roseanne”, “Murphy Brown”, “Law and Order”, “Damages”, “Homeland”, “The Good Fight” and many more.
And he’s appeared in some great TV movies and miniseries including “The Other Side of Victory”, “Charlie and the Great Balloon Chase”, “Bermuda Grace”, “Witness Protection”, “The Path to 9/11”, “The Pacific”, “When They See Us”, “The Comey Rule” and “Full Circle”, to name only a few.
And our guest is also a gifted singer-songwriter. His album, “The Kitchen Tapes”, is a wonderful collection of original songs, and all profits from sales of the album go to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. And he also wrote and recorded an emotionally powerful song called “Thoughts & Prayers”, and the proceeds from that song go to an organization called Sandy Hook Promise, whose mission is to prevent gun violence in schools, homes, and communities.
