Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth Interview with Music Superstar, Crystal Gayle
About Harvey's guest:
Today’s special guest, Crystal Gayle, is one of the most beloved and highly acclaimed superstars in the world of country music. She’s given us 34 top ten hit songs, 22 of which went to number 1, including “Don’t it make my Brown Eyes Blue”, “Talking in Your Sleep”, “Half the Way”, “I’ll Get Over You”, “It’s Like we Never Said Goodbye”, “Our Love is on the Faultline”, “Till I Gain Control Again”, and so many more, like her wonderful duet with Eddie Rabbit, “You and I”, and her beautiful duets with Gary Morris, 2 of which were prominently featured on TV shows: “Makin’ Up for Lost Time” was a big hit on “Dallas”, and “Another World” was the theme song on the soap opera, “Another World”.
Her popularity is so monumental, that from 1975 to 85, our guest was the Most Performed Country Female Artist on Radio. She’s recorded 25 albums, plus 17 compilation albums, many of which have gone gold and platinum worldwide. In fact, she was the very first country female artist in history to have an album go Platinum. That was her 1977 album called “We Must Believe in Magic”.
She’s hosted 2 TV specials, and an HBO concert, as well as TV specials in Sweden and Finland. She was inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry by her legendary superstar sister, Loretta Lynn. And the list of awards, honours and accolades our guest has received is jaw-dropping. A Grammy Award, and 7 more Grammy nominations. Two Country Music Association Awards for Female Vocalist of the Year, and 10 more CMA nominations, including 2 for Entertainer of the Year. Five Academy of Country Music Awards, including the Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award. Four American Music Awards, including 3 for Favourite Country Female Artist. Numerous lifetime achievement awards and Hall of Fame inductions.
Rolling Stone magazine included her on its list of the 100 greatest country artists of all time, and she is included on CMT’s list of the 40 greatest women in country music. And let’s not forget that in 1983, People Magazine ranked her at number 2 on its list of the 50 most beautiful people in the world.
