Carly Kerndt is the CEO of Fly Dog Digital. She started her business in October 2020 after getting laid off from her job due to COVID. She had a really hard time finding a job so eventually, she said, "if nobody is going to hire me, then I am going to hire me" and she started her business that very same day. She began as a Virtual Assistant, mostly because it was such a buzzword at the time, but quickly pivoted to being a Social Media Manager. Fast-forward 2.5 years and they are a full-service digital marketing agency working with clients internationally.  They have 4 full-time employees and 5 contractors - so they’ve grown quite quickly!

One question that we always get is "What do I focus on if I’m new? How do I build trust with people so they want to work with me? Do I have to “fake it til I make it?!"

The phrase “fake it til you make it” has been around for a long time, and it’s often used as advice for people who are trying to achieve their goals. The idea behind this phrase is that if you act as if you already have achieved your goals, you’ll eventually become that person.

However, the problem with this approach is that it can lead to imposter syndrome and a lack of authenticity.
