Hello Excellent Humans! You’ve been hearing Bill Guinan on every podcast but didn’t even know it (he composed our intro/outro music)! Finally he’s on officially to talk about the iconic 90’s horror movie Scream. There’s also a bit of Ghostface imitation (the slasher, not the rapper), a brief history of American porches, a lot of talk about horror movie tropes and clichés because of course there is.
Hello Excellent Humans!
Friend to the show and resident Mark Wahlberg expert Tina Dillon returns as we discuss teen thriller Fear (1996). Talking about this R-rated flick definitely bumps our language up to a PG-13 *at least* (we don’t want to point any fingers, but the rollercoaster scene especially threw us for a loop).
What do you get when you cross Frank Herbert, David Lynch, Kyle MacLachlan, Sting, and a desert? Allison, Hunter, and guest Carter Horton will tell you all about it as we talk Dune (1984). Allison might recite the litany against fear, and we definitely talk about the other Dune movie that never got made (if you don’t know the one, you will!)
Will Congleton joins us for Clint East'wood's art-collecting rock-climbing spy-crafting action thriller, The Eiger Sanction (1975).
Join us as we watch 90’s sci fi classic The Fifth Element (1997) with our friend Katie Hewko. Allison heard that some people don’t like this movie very much - listen up to find out why, and what we have to say about it.
On this episode we enjoy the rocking and rolling exploits of Alfie and Bibi in the rock musical The Apple (1980). Joining us is a more familiar B.B. - Bryan Bierman! Hear why this cult fave is one of our faves as well, and why Hunter loves the ending so darn much. Take a bite!
It turns out that Talladega Nights (2006) is one of our friend Tabitha Rogers’ favorite movies. We go beyond the film with some discussion about product placement in NASCAR and Hollywood and the origin of racing (and what would happen if a professional racer was involved in a police chase) among other audio antics. We also experience the limitations of radio, with some unexpected results (we accidentally brainstormed something horrifying, you guys! Listen in to find out what!)
Hello Excellent Humans!
Our special guest Tina Dillon brought over Four Brothers (2005) and you better believe we talk about it! With special guest Mark Wahlberg (or maybe it’s just Hunter’s Marky Mark impression? Nah, no one’s that good, that must be Mark…)
Hello Excellent Humans! On this edition of HWGW we thrilled at the gorgeous animation and expert voice acting in All Dogs Go to Heaven (1989). Bryan Bierman is back and we talk the career trajectory of Burt Reynolds, the birth of a movie trope, and give the rundown on some unsavory behind-the-scenes trivia.
Hello excellent humans and welcome to our inaugural episode! We watched Chuck Norris flick The Octagon (1980) with our good friend Bryan Bierman and pitch a remake idea that we think is 800x better. Maybe you'll agree?
