This is the first of three episodes devoted to famous poltergeist cases. The things that people experience in poltergeist cases are not just things that go bump in the night. They are bizarre, often violent outbursts of paranormal activity. While some poltergeist cases go back as far as the 1600s, today’s episode is about a modern case; one that was witnessed by scores of people, and that was featured in newspaper articles and TV shows. It comes to us from Australia, and is known as The Humpty Doo Poltergeist.

Within weeks the girls were performing their spirit communication act on stage in front of hundreds of spectators. Over the next forty years, the sisters would swindle thousands of innocent people out of money, and a new religion called Spiritualism would emerge.
