In episode 9 Tom mentions it’s time for another round of lunchtime gaming at work and asks whether there are any new games he should try out for such an occasion. Myron and Anna have two new games that might just do the trick. Roll Player by Thunderworks Games is a fascinating combination of cards and dice where you get to build a character and try to score the most victory points. Even if you don’t win the game you may just wind up with a character you want to use for your next D&D campaign. Both agree the game is a worthwhile add for any tabletop gamer who also loves D&D.

Meanwhile, The Climbers by Capstone Games is a 3D building block game where your goal is to build a tower and climb to the highest point. There are lots of opportunities for cooperation and heartbreak along the way. Anna describes the game as spatial reasoning Jenga, but both agree it was fun and challenging. JT makes a stop in Tom’s Coaching Corner to ask questions about Galaxy of Heroes and effective strategies for accumulating raid tokens.

Myron plays spoiler while JT plants a bountiful garden!

In episode 7 the Have Fun and Play podcasters discuss what’s new in their gaming world, the latest developments in online Dominion play, and the demise of Steam machines. Myron kicks things off by introducing a new hilarious game called Two Point Hospital. It’s a sim-builder where you get to create and run hospitals to treat all sorts of ailments like Monobrow, Night Fever, and Jest infections. Meanwhile JT has been up to some no-good necromancy in Divinity: Original Sin 2. She’s not quite sold on the turn-based gameplay mechanics, but the story has her hooked. The entire foursome recently got together to play Dominion online and quickly discovered that Myron’s strategy was not to win, but just to wreak havoc and make it more difficult for Tom, JT, or Anna to win. JT totally outsmarted Myron’s curses by buying up gardens. Finally, Anna laments the demise of Steam machines and the fact that she still can’t effectively play PC games from a nice, comfy couch.
