Her mother spoke to her on the phone while she was at a friend's home and told her to come home. She left her friend's residence and was last seen riding her blue ten-speed bicycle in the 3000 block of northwest 45th Street at the time. Amber was on her way to her home home in the 3100 block of northwest 39th Street. She never arrived and has never been heard from again.

Amber's bicycle was discovered abandoned in Denniston Park in Oklahoma City on December 19, the day following her disappearance. The bike was located near northwest 27th Street and Drexel Boulevard, which is one mile from her home. Amber's sweater, shoes, one sock and a ring were found along Drexel Boulevard and northwest 12th Street on December 20. One of her shoes was a block away from the other one.

Investigators stated that blood, hair and fiber evidence was discovered near Amber's possessions. There were blue fibers on her sweater, as well as vomit mixed with possible ejaculate. There was a speck of blood on her shoe, but the blood spot was so small that authorities could not link it to any specific person. • Sarah Elizabeth Kinslow

Sarah Kinslow, from Greenville, Texas, disappeared when she was just fourteen years old. On the morning of May 1, 2001, Sarah was dropped off at school, which was the last time her family ever saw her. At the end of the school day, her parents were notified that she had not attended any of her classes. After speaking to her friends to try and figure out where Kinslow went, they told her that she was supposed to skip school that day to meet them at the East Mount Cemetery to hang out, but that she never showed. Worried, this is when her mother notified the police.

During the initial search, police gave a tracker dog a piece of her clothing to pick up a scent. Her scent was found where her father dropped her off at school and her scent created a trail around the school and down two blocks, where her scent suddenly stopped in the middle of the street. Police believe this is where she may have gotten into a car and left. A teen witness claimed that they saw her in a light blue truck driven by a white male with dark brown hair and a pencil mustache at 3:30 p.m. that day.

Although only fourteen at the time, Sarah was in a relationship with an 18-year-old male, of whom her parents did not approve. Curtis Wayne Bell, her boyfriend at the time, was a resident of Quinlan, Texas, and was one of the people she was supposed to meet the day that she went missing. After her disappearance, police discovered that the two had been sexually involved, and although the couple might have considered it consensual, she was not of age to give consent. Her diary contained entries that explained her love for Bell and how she wished to run away with him. According to her mother, she was not prepared to be gone for an extended period as she didn’t take her purse or any of her belongings and had never run away before. Many of her friends failed polygraph tests regarding her disappearance.

  • Shane Walker

Shane was last seen at Martin Luther King Jr. Towers' playground in Manhattan, New York on August 10, 1989. Shane was sitting on a bench eating potato chips with his mother, Rosa Glover, when two children approached him and asked if he wanted to play. Rosa allowed the children, a ten year old girl and her five year old brother, to push Shane on the swing while she sat nearby.

While the children were playing on the slide, a man sat down beside Rosa and began speaking to her about crime. He mentioned abduction; saying "things happen to children". Rosa then got distracted by looking at the man's scars, which he claimed were from fighting, and when she looked up the children were gone.

The children returned through a hole in the park fence. After they explained that they'd left Shane in the park Rosa immediately took them to the police station to report her son missing.

  • Etan Patz

Etan Kalil Patz (/ˈeɪtɑːn ˈpeɪts/; October 9, 1972 – May 25, 1979) was an American boy who was six years old on May 25, 1979, when he disappeared on his way to his school bus stop in the SoHo neighborhood of Lower Manhattan. His disappearance helped launch the missing children movement, which included new legislation and new methods for tracking down missing children. Several years after he disappeared, Patz was one of the first children to be profiled on the "photo on a milk carton" campaigns of the early 1980s. In 1983, President Ronald Reagan designated May 25—the anniversary of Etan's disappearance—as National Missing Children's Day in the United States.

Decades later, it was determined that Patz had been abducted and murdered the same day that he went missing. The case was reopened in 2010 by the Manhattan District Attorney's office. In 2012, the FBI excavated the basement of the alleged crime scene near the Patz residence but discovered no new evidence. Pedro Hernandez—a suspect who confessed—was charged and indicted later that year on charges of second-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping. In 2014, the case went through a series of hearings to determine whether or not Hernandez's statements before he received his Miranda rights were legally admissible at trial. His trial began in January 2015 and it ended with a mistrial that May, when 1 of the 12 jurors held out. The retrial began on October 19, 2016, and it was concluded on February 14, 2017, after nine days of deliberations, when the jury found Hernandez guilty of murder and kidnapping. Hernandez was sentenced to 25-years-to-life in prison on April 18, 2017. Hernandez will not be eligible for parole for 25 years.[4]
