Meet Laci:

With only some tinkering in Photoshop under my belt and literally no knowledge of f-stops and shutter speeds, somehow I was accepted into the photography program at BYU. Pulled into a whole new world, I found great joy in learning the trade and exploring new techniques. Since then, I’ve explored everything under the sun in that field and worked my way into graphic design and gave much of my attention to commercial work. The exploration process was a bit challenging as it wasn’t clear in my mind what I wanted to do with my accumulating skillsets until I rediscovered what could be done with the power of Photoshop. While Photoshop has its reputation for warping our view of our world in the worst ways, I discovered with its power I could create new art which if done right can edify, teach, and inspire others. For a time, I did not know what my art form was even called, but that never stopped me from making it; it simply made the uncharted path more difficult to navigate. Given much of the work is tedious and time consuming, my favorite part of the creative process is the beginning and the end. There is no thrill quite like when a connection is made and the idea strikes and no reward quite like the finished piece before you that was first born in the mind. And as with any gift God has given, there is no greater joy than knowing some art piece may help other souls on their way.

Meet Shelby:

Forty-three years ago, my parents named me Shel having no idea what obsession was in my future. I grew up loving all things ocean and married another thalassophile shortly after he returned from his mission in French Polynesia. We have five children - three daughters and two sons. I was an art major at Southern Utah University and used that knowledge to become a graphic designer to support my husband as he finished at BYU and went on to medical school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and further training in Saint Louis, Missouri where we decided to stay.

I have dabbled in all forms of art all my life from collage to sculpture to painting but only recently found my niche when I used my collection of seashells to create a portrait of one of my daughters in the fall of 2020. Since then, I have gone on three more shelling expeditions in Florida and Alabama to collect more supplies with which to work and have used those and more sent to me by friends, family and even strangers to create two more pieces. I’ve never been so passionate about anything before. Every part of the process makes me so happy. Finding the shells, sorting, cleaning and finally creating with them - I could do any part indefinitely and be thrilled with the opportunity. I have found my identity and the way I want to express myself, and I am grateful to be a Shel.

Meet Lacey:

Hello, I am Lacey Christenson. I am from the little town of Overton, NV. To this day, my Dad still lives in that little town in the same spot that I call my childhood home. Once upon a long time ago my home was the only home for miles around... nothing but desert hills and blue skies. We had farm animals and I began riding horses bareback alone at the small age of 3. I developed a love for Art from the second my Dad showed me how beautiful letters could look in cursive. My Dad had a shop that he would spend countless hours working in, from sewing upholstery to metal and wood work, engines and everything mechanical. It was like heaven for me. I would sit and watch his hands make the most beautiful things and I thought that was mind blowing; creating something from nothing, so flawlessly.

From then on, a passion for the arts was instilled in me. I love sketching, writing, painting, and all things creative.

In 2009 I married my biggest childhood crush, Levi Christenson in the Manti Temple. Levi served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints church in the Rapid City, South Dakota Mission. Levi & I have been blessed with two little boys + two little girls. Our little family resides in Sanpete County, Ut. Being a wife and a Mother are the most sacred titles to me and what I hold above all other titles. Getting to do art while raising my children is a dream come true and my personal recipe for happiness... I couldn't be more thankful. In between baking, homework, household chores, and snuggles, I create. I hope you see and feel love from my pieces, I hope they spark something inside of you and mostly, I hope they bring an added warmth to your heart and home.
