The Hawks faced a tough schedule in the middle of the season, playing three straight ranked opponents (#12 Penn State, #3 USC and #1 Ohio State). They also had a few thrilling games that won or lost the game in the final minutes. They finished 3-8 with a very limited passing attack, which is actually worse than the last few seasons at Iowa.
