Brion looks at this week's opponent Northwestern and the games played from 1897 through the Nile Kinnick era in 1939. There have been 79 games played between the two teams, and Iowa is 53-28-3 (65%) all-time.

To my surprise, the series has been fairly competitive except for a long stretch of 21 straight wins by Iowa from 1974 through 1994.

Hayden Fry lost only 3 times to the Wildcats (1995-1997), but did beat them for his final victory as Iowa coach in 1998. He was 17-3 (85%).

Overall, Ferentz is 11-11 (50%) against the Wildcats.

However, there have been many Iowa blowouts in the series.
