Barış Manço  has defined a very significant part of Turkish Pop Culture he was a pioneer of rock music in Turkey and one of the founders of the Anatolian Rock genre.

This week we talk about one of the pivotal backbones of Turkish Pop Culture creation that being the world of 'Yesilçam' cinema (the old Turkish cinema also known as Yeşilçam literally means The Green Pine in the Turkish language it is like the Hollywood/Bollywood of Turkey).
 
Yesilçam cinema was most active during the periods of 1950's-1980's. More information can be found here.

In this episode, we analyze six of the worst death scenes in Yesilçam cinema. This is not an exhaustive list and is only six of the many, many hilarious death scenes of the time.

Welcome to Hayriye & Huriye's Dissertation on Turkish Pop Culture where we discuss all things Turkish pop culture related, as seen through the eyes of two Turkish-Australian girls.
 
Some bio on us: we are two Turkish-Australian girls who have a theatre background and love the cinema and the arts. We both grew up watching old Turkish movies from the wonderful world of 'Yesilçam’ cinema. We are passionate about comedy, movies, theatre, music, and everything arty-farty. Turkish pop culture has had such an impact (both good and bad) on our lives that we thought why not share the love and see what you guys think of it all?
