Husband and wife, dynamic duo Janelle and Ben Allanson discuss the sport of French ring. They walk through their history of working and titling Belgian Malinois and Dutch Shepherds, raising a dog for police work, and owning their own dog boarding and daycare facility. Ben speaks at length about French ring and the character of the sport, and what it’s actually like to be a decoy and get bit by powerhouse dogs. The two are the perfect balance of decoy & handler perspective and share super candid thoughts about living and working with dogs.

Laney talks with Stephanie, @mostly_belgian_melon and @angrymelongear, all about her life with dogs. Stephanie is a top competitor in the dock diving world, having received multiple invites for her dogs to Nationals. They discuss Stephanie’s health, her history with dogs, and her current two Belgian Malinois Nyx&Astra and pet dog Luna. The girls talk dock diving, IPO and reflect on their passions. Stephanie shares all about her dog gear company, Angry Melon Gear, which she runs herself as an independent female entrepreneur. Stephanie is a blast to listen to and a true inspiration.

Laney talks with Rory of @dobiesisters about her life with her two Doberman Pinscher littermates, Boston and Griffin. Rory shares her life growing up with a slew of German Shepherd rescues, and how she came to get two dobie puppies from the same litter. She talks about Boston’s indomitable prey drive and independence of spirit, and Griffin’s sweet and outgoing nature. She discusses how people treat one another online, and how one’s views and identity can become so tangled up that one can start to hate the faceless “other” side. She also discusses her work in government and the use of Dobermans as scientific test subjects. Rory shares so much valuable insight not just into her life, but into what it means to be a person today.

Laney talks with Guest Maddie of @biteydogs- owner of a badass Dutch Shepherd, Belgian Malinois and handler of a detection Labrador Retriever. Maddie does not pull any punches and shares what it’s like living with working dogs and working them as they were bred to be worked. She is a force to be reckoned with and a real treat to hear from.

Laney sits down for a second talk with Marina, owner of the two German Shorthaired Pointers @the_good_boyss. They start off by recapping Laney and Lorelei’s weekend at their first dock diving competition - then they dive into bonded pairs in rescue, socialization/nature vs nurture, object possession, and most embarrassing stories. They of course have to wrap up by discussing Game of Thrones- spoilers for Season 7 ahead (behind a warning)! Marina and Laney could talk for hours about everything dogs, horses, GoT, LIFE, and here’s an episode where they do.

Laney tells the story of trying to help her neighbor with her reactive dog this week- specifically, how this little experiment made her feel. She also talks about signing up for her first dock diving event - starting to bike with Lorelei- and why so many people think they’re too dumb to fix their problems.

Laney sits down with Kristine of @austenthegsd to do a deep dive on all things nosework! Kristine has a five year old German Shepherd female who is titled to NWII and they are currently working towards their NWIII. Kristine shares her journey in selecting Austen’s breeder, early work with a land shark GSD puppy, and then jumps into the sport! She gives an amazing synopsis of nosework and what you need to get started.

Laney sits down with Amy of @ozarkbitesback to talk BEAUCERONS and dog sports! They also discuss mentors in the dog sport world, fantastic breeders, the topic of cropping and docking- so much to dig into. Amy also shares her experience with the beauceron breed and their character.
