On one hand, society wants us all to be joyful, happy and cheery for the holidays. There are parties to attend, treats to eat, family to see and holly jolly to share. On the other hand, the holiday season can feel less overwhelming for people living with CRPS and other forms of chronic pain. For many, navigating the holidays can be difficult.

While family and friends may try to understand what you’re going through, they don’t always know the feelings of fear, isolation and vulnerability that you can experience.

Answer to … why we are in so much pain. Answers about our diagnosis. Answers about treatment options. We turn to the physicians – the experts… to find the answers. But what happens when they don’t have the answers? What happens when they are just as perplexed about our diagnosis as we are?

When traditional treatments are not working then it’s time to truly step outside the box. To step away from the stuff that isn’t working and take a closer look at treatments that are helping.

Traditional medicine is just treating the symptoms and that is simply not working when it comes to CRPS. It didn’t work for me and it isn’t working for the majority of CRPS patients. That is why most CRPS patients are getting worse and not better.

Holistic Centered Treatment protocol is treating you as a whole. Working with the biology and physiology of the body, the biology of pain, and treating all aspects of CRPS - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. This is what is providing positive outcomes to those living with CRPS.

Advocating for ourselves can feel lonely. Sometimes, it can feel like David and Goliath! As someone that lived with CRPS for 7 years I understand how difficult it can be to stand up for yourself in a doctor's office or even to a family member. At times it can simply feel overwhelming - to the point that we just clam up and walk away. Yet, in the long-run this only hinders our progress.

Learning to advocate for ourselves can be key to moving forward, receiving the care we need, and reaching our goals.

You are going to have some stress in your life -- we all do, and it's normal. One of the best things you can do for your health is manage that stress, even when you can’t control the source of it.

Some stress can be good. It can be a challenge that keeps us alert, motivated, and ready to avoid danger. But too much stress can make us sick. And it can bring on or worsen certain symptoms or diseases.

Stress can also lead to emotional problems, depression, panic attacks, or other forms of anxiety and worry. Thus, increasing our pain.

It's not just the stress itself that's the problem. It's how our body responds to it.

Therefore, finding resources or tools that will help you manage your stress - will also help you manage your CRPS.
