The Jan Broberg Show

Healing Trauma Through Functional Medicine : A Holistic Approach With Kerry Jenkins

Listen Later

Today, Jan is joined by Kerry Jenkins, a Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) in Florida who graduated from Nova Southeastern University in 2000 and received her Masters in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska in 2007. Kerry discovered Functional/Integrative medicine when a family member began having chronic digestive concerns. She quickly realized that this was the type of medicine that she would be excited to practice! Kerry was certified through the Institute of Functional Medicine.  Kerry believes every patient has a story and through story sharing we gather details to map out the history and implement a plan for true healing. Her practice, Whisper Health, was created to offer patients a more holistic approach to healing/managing their chronic conditions

In today’s conversation, Jan and Kerry talk about the link between trauma and health. They discuss the importance of having a clinician who actively listens and validates patients at the initial step in the healing process. Kerry explains the impact of trauma on the mind, body, and spirit and shares insights into how she creates a healing plan with patients. The conversation stresses the significance of creating a holistic healing approach; advocating for the inclusion of other clinicians in the healing plan. Kerry explains how accessing the vagus nerve through simple techniques can promote relaxation and healing.  Lastly, she introduces her upcoming program, the Get Your Sass Back Program, which focuses on empowering women with polycystic ovarian syndrome to reclaim their health.
