  • Homeward Bound: Love From a Pure Heart
When babies are born, so too are appetite and voice. Such things are natural to life. When Christians are born again through the truth of the gospel, that new life produces love—a Spirit-enabled desire for the good of others expressed at the expense of self. Such love flows from a Christian's inner being and, like a child learns to speak or walk, must be spurred on to greater expression and growth. "... Fervently love one another from the heart," 1 Peter 1:22 (LSB). God's enduring truth produces sincere love, not merely its outward appearance. Our expression of that love can be hindered by hardship, outside temptations, or our ongoing battle with self-protection. We know we're growing in truth not merely by how much spiritual knowledge we have in our heads, but how much we love sacrificially from the heart. "... for you have been born again not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, that is, through the living and enduring word of God," verse 23. Genuine knowledge of God's truth bears its fruit in love. Join us this Lord's Day as we turn to the closing verses of 1 Peter 1 and consider "Homeward Bound: Love From a Pure Heart." We'll also enjoy the visible reminder of Christ's love for us, and our union with one another in Christ, as we come to the Lord's Table. Prepare for Sunday: Read 1 Peter 1:13-25, meditating on verses 22-25. Also read John 13:34-35. What words or phrases does Peter use to describe love? Why do you think Peter links the command to love with being born again? What is distinctive about Jesus' command to love one another? How does this love identify His disciples? What circumstances, temptations, or self-protective habits

  • A Confident Prayer
This sermon explores the foundation of Christian confidence in prayer by examining Psalm 4, emphasising that believers approach God not on the basis of their own merit but through the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ. The exposition highlights how David's assurance stems from knowing God's character as righteous, good, and merciful, which sustains the believer amidst persecution and daily struggles. A central theme is the messianic interpretation of the psalm, where David's plea for his enemies to repent reflects the heart of Jesus, who died for the ungodly and calls all people to turn from falsehood to truth. The message encourages believers to trust in God's sovereignty and provision, finding peace and rest even when facing opposition, because the Lord hears the cry of His people and holds them securely. Ultimately, the sermon calls for a heart that desires God's favour and extends grace to enemies, resting in the joy and safety provided by the Saviour.

  • Love ,Know and Grow
This sermon explores the cyclical nature of Christian growth as presented in John 14, where knowing Christ leads to love, which results in obedience, and obedience invites further revelation of His presence. The message emphasizes that obedience is not the root of salvation but the visible fruit of a heart transformed by grace, distinguishing genuine faith from mere religious sentiment or intellectual knowledge. It challenges believers to move beyond passive familiarity with Scripture to an active, personal relationship with Jesus, evidenced by a life of consistent holiness and sacrificial love. The tone is both convicting and encouraging, urging the congregation to examine their own desires for deeper intimacy with God and to recognize that true knowledge of Christ inevitably produces a changed life that reflects His character to the world.

  • Jesus Christ Saviour of All Men
What does it mean that God is the Savior of all men? This question sits at the heart of one of the most misunderstood truths in all of Scripture, and 1 Timothy 4:9-10 cuts straight through the confusion. In Pastor Paul Chapman's message, Jesus Christ Saviour of the World, this passage presents a bold and balanced declaration: Christ is the Savior of all men, especially those who believe. That single verse dismantles two errors that have crept into the church and the culture alike. On one side, universalism tells us that everyone will ultimately be welcomed into heaven regardless of their response to God. On the other side, a theology of limited atonement insists that Christ died only for a select few. But the full counsel of Scripture refuses both extremes. The price paid at Calvary was sufficient for every human being who has ever drawn breath, and yet the pardon it provides is only applied to those who receive it by faith. We are invited to sit with the weight of that truth and let it reshape how we think about grace, justice, and the love of God.
