  • God's Provision in the Basement
The speaker stands in the newly renovated boiler room in the basement of the ministry's building in Midtown Manhattan, marveling at God's provision. A couple of years earlier the leaking, rusting boiler needed replacement, but without the funds the ministry limped it through a winter season while trusting the Lord to provide. The Lord has now fully paid for a brand new boiler, its installation, and the city-required code upgrades, including ceiling repairs, a new fresh air duct, fresh primer, and new lighting, and both the room and boiler have passed inspection. The building, begun in 1873 and completed and dedicated in 1907, still stands in a strategic location where believers from around the country minister the gospel in the chapels and in the public arena. The speaker counts it a privilege and joy to maintain this space for Christians of different backgrounds and denominations laboring together for the gospel of God.

  • Stay Salty!
Have you ever wondered how salt can lose its flavor? The chemical bonds between sodium and chlorine are so strong that you would have to heat salt to over 1,100 degrees Fahrenheit just to begin separating the two elements. So what did Jesus mean in Luke 14:34–35 when He talked about salt losing its saltiness? Join Dr. Mark Hamby and Molly Mayo as they unravel this mystery, using the entire chapter of Luke 14 as the key to understanding this passage. Five important lessons show us how to stay "tasty": practicing humility, serving others, not making excuses, choosing to be all in, and purging ourselves with the water of the Word. Don't be a saltless simpleton!

  • 2 Six Signs You’re Falling Asleep Spiritually (Mark 14:1–9)
Could you be drifting into spiritual sleep without even realizing it? Discover six biblical warning signs of spiritual complacency in this in-depth, expository sermon on Mark 14:1–9. Spiritual sleep rarely happens overnight. Just as a driver can gradually fall asleep behind the wheel without recognizing the danger, Christians can slowly lose their spiritual alertness. Fear of God diminishes, sin becomes less troubling, worship loses its significance, and the promises of Scripture no longer seem as real as they once did. In this message, we examine Jesus' anointing at Bethany and discover what the contrasting responses of Mary, the disciples, and the religious leaders reveal about the condition of our hearts. My sermons are the fruit of nearly 30 years of pastoral ministry, biblical counseling, formal seminary training, and a lifelong passion for God's Word. Since childhood, I've been drawn to the beauty and power of expository preaching—opening Scripture verse by verse and applying it to real life. After graduating from Moody Bible Institute, I spent the next 27 years serving as a youth pastor, senior pastor, church planter, and host of the Food For Your Soul radio broadcast. Along the way, I also earned a Master of Sacred Literature and a Doctor of Religious Studies. For more content from D. Richard Ferguson, visit TreasuringGod.com. • DC Gospel Outreach Report & Future Vision
Every second that passes, every hour that elapses, every flip of the calendar puts us closer to the time of the Lord's return or to our appointment with death. According to the CDC, one death occurs in the United States every 10 seconds. By the time you finish listening to this 54-minute program, 324 people will have been ushered into eternity. Some recognize their present health condition reveals there is not much time left. For others, death comes by total surprise due to an auto collision, a heart attack, an aneurism, a freak accident or just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. We just don't know when our appointment with death will occur. This is what compels believers in Christ to share the Gospel. Such is the case for our guest on this edition of Crosstalk who became burdened for our nation's capital, Washington D.C. This past January we first introduced you to the DC Gospel Outreach, an organized plan to blanket our nation's capital this summer with the Gospel as tourists flooded into the city, marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. We asked you to pray…we asked you to go…we asked you to consider a gift and several responded in a variety of ways. Now all these months later we invited our guest back and he provided listeners with a very encouraging report on what happened with the DC Gospel Outreach. That guest is Dr. Alton Beal, the executive director of DC Gospel Outreach. He's also an evangelist and president of Ambassador Baptist College which trains men and women for full-time Christian service. More Information DC Gospel Outreach 104 – 1 N. • What Was the ACTUAL Point of Circumcision?
Circumcision was established by God to identify specific earthly promises to Abraham and his descendants and to the nation that would come from him and through which the Messiah would come. Specifically, it was a sign that Abraham would be the father of many nations, and that through Israel, Jesus the Christ, the seed, would be born. Circumcision also pointed toward a greater spiritual reality in that while physical circumcision could not achieve any real constraint of sin and caused God to have no obligation to save anyone, circumcision of the heart was only for the sons of God. But as is often the case with the earthly types that God institutes, because of sin, physical circumcision is often taught to have direct spiritual significance. In the New Testament, there were Jews who tried to tie circumcision directly to salvation to the point where Peter was caught up in their lies and had to be publicly rebuked by Paul. This is also a distinct disagreement between Presbyterians and Reformed Baptists where Presbyterians associate circumcision with baptism and by implication apply the promises of the baptism of Jesus Christ to unbelieving children and from it a form of belonging or covenant membership within the church. We believe that this Presbyterian view of the relationship between circumcision and baptism is contrary to scripture. (We are even more opposed to the views of circumcision and baptism that lead to paedocommunion and to the teachings called Federal Vision)Please join us as we discuss the nature of circumcision and the purposes to which God appointed it.
