• A heat health emergency is now in effect in Philadelphia and it will remain in place through Saturday at the very least. KYW Newsradio's Tim Jimenez reports city services have been activated to help those who may be at high risk in the dangerous heat.
• SEPTA is stiffening fines and beefing up enforcement for quality-of-life crimes such as smoking or drug use. as KYW Newsradio's Mike DeNardo reports, it's an effort to reverse a surge of bad behavior.
• Pennsylvania's budget is supposed to be finalized by the end of the month. but with a week and a half to go, republicans and democrats seem far apart as they battle over tax cuts and education funding. as we hear from, KYW Newsradio Suburban Bureau chief Jim Melwert, House Republicans brought their argument to Montgomery County.
