The reason why Galatians has been so misunderstood is because if we dont know the Torah and we don't know the issue that Paul is addressing. Two commonly misunderstood phrases are: "under the Law", and "works of the Law". When you decode these phrases, what it means is this: those who are following after Pharisaic/rabbinic Judaism.

Paul writes in Galatians 3:26 that we are baptized (immersed) in Messiah Yeshua. We are identified in His death, burial and resurrection. We are dead to sin and alive to God in Yeshua. Sin is defined as transgressing/breaking the law/the Torah. So, if we are dead to sin, then we will NOT be breaking the Torah, but instead, we will be following and keeping the Torah by the Spirit of Yeshua our Messiah!

Paul is passionate in getting his point across. We do not walk out our faith in Yeshua by following the Pharisaic/rabbinic Judaism. Instead, Paul is passionately telling us that we are to follow Yeshua's Torah by the Holy Spirit.

Galatians 3:21 states: "Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law."

The law he is referring to here is not the written Torah. The context is "works of the law". We are not justified or made righteous by our works of the law. He is comparing and contrasting "works of the law" to the "promises of God" that are received by faith as seen in Abraham's life. (Gal 3:14)

And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers: nto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, King Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews. Acts 26:6-7

What is the “hope of Israel” that Paul hints at that is the reason is in chains? To understand this we need to go to Ezekiel 37: 2, 11:

And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry. Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts.

We see a valley of scattered, dead, dry bones. These bones are the “whole house of Israel”, all 12 tribes. Why is their hope lost? Because they have been “cut off” from the God of Israel and from each other.

Yet, Yahweh is going to do a miracle and resurrect these bones from the dead. What is the hope of Israel? That Northern kingdom and Southern kingdom would reunite once again, that the Davidic kingdom is restored and that Yeshua rules and reigns over them all.

THIS is why Paul was in chains. THIS is why the Jews wanted to kill him. Paul followed Yeshua and he followed Yeshua’s Torah.

The accusation being made against Paul is that he himself does not follow the Torah and he teaches others to not follow the Torah. The crowd is ready to have him killed so the Romans take him away and put him a cell. The Jews plot to kill him the next and so the Romans mount up a military guard in the night and escort him to Governor Felix in Caesarea. There, Paul makes the following statement to him:

Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me. But this I confess unto you, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Torah and in the prophets. Acts 24:13-14

Later, Paul is brought before King Agrippa, where he makes his defense again:

And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers: unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews. Acts 26: 6-7.

What is this hope of the promise made of God to our fathers, that Paul is talking about?

In this teaching series, we are going to look at these questions: Did Paul keep Torah? Did he teach others to keep and follow the Torah? We will be covering various places in the book of Acts where Paul is put on trial regarding this issue. Over 25% of the book of Acts deals with this one single issue: Should a believer in Yeshua as Messiah express their faith in Him by following the Torah?

In this session, we will look at why was Stephen stoned. A dispute arises between Stephen and certain Jews in the synagogue. What was the dispute about?

There are false witnesses who make false accusations against Stephen. They say:

*That he is against Moses (“code” for being against the Torah).

*They accuse him that he speaks against the Torah, against the Temple, and

*he comes to change the “customs of Moses”.

These are all false charges brought forward by false witnesses.

Think about the logic of this. We are told in Acts 6:8-9 that FALSE witnesses come forward and bring forward FALSE charges that Yeshua came and did away with the customs of Moses or the written Torah. If these are FALSE charges, then what is actually true?

It is that Yeshua came, not to do away with the written Torah but to fulfill the Torah since He is the one who gave us the Torah at Mt Sinai! Yet, ironically, it is these false charges that are taught and believed by so many in mainstream Christianity; that as a result of Yeshua dying on the tree, He did away with following the Torah. Traditional Christianity teaches that this was the position and teaching of Paul as well. Is that really so? We will take a look at that in this teaching.

There were two major sins that our forefathers committed that we must repent of:

*the sin of the golden calf (Ex. 32) and

*The sin of Jeroboam who led the northern kingdom division into idolatry and a kingdom split. (1 Kings 12)

In order to end the exile of the House of Joseph (Northern Kingdom) and the House of Judah (Southern Kingdom) it is required that we repent of our personal sins and the sins of our forefathers. Our forefathers were ejected and evicted out of the land of Israel and were sent into exile because of their sin.

One day Yeshua will return and regather all 12 tribes and lead them on a journey home back to Israel (Deut 30:1-6, Jer. 23:7-8, Isaiah 4:3-6, Hosea 2:14-22, Rev 12). This is known as the Greater Exodus to come.

One of the requirements for being allowed to return to Israel is a deep, thorough, complete repentance of personal sin. We must also repent for the sins of our forefathers (Lev. 26:40-46). To be allowed back into the land of Israel, the bride must prepare herself through cleansing, repentance, and come to “shema”, to hear and obey the Torah, ALL of the Word of God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, the Ruach HaKodesh.

May we, the bride make ourselves ready! The time to repent is NOW!

May the Father pour out a spirit of repentance upon us as we listen to and come into agreement with these prayers of repentance from the scriptures:
