Let’s summarize the list of penalties that happen to the adulterous woman:

*She will drink bitter waters

*She will be slain with the sword

*Her curses are written in a book and blotted out

*She is forsaken by her husband

*Her husband hides his face from her

*She is slain with thirst

*She is stripped naked

*She is laughed to scorn

*She is mocked for the way she commits whoredom

*Her enemies cast lots for her

We saw in the last session that Yeshua took upon Himself these same penalties and curses when He died on the tree. Why would He do this? Because He is married to the house of Jacob, to His bride. They are ONE, they are ECHAD. So what happens to her, happens to Him. Because He loved her so much, He took all the penalty that was due to her and He took it upon Himself so that she could be a redeemed bride and their marriage covenant could be renewed.

The penalty that came upon the house of Jacob, or the whole house of Israel, was the penalty of an adulterous woman that breaks the marriage covenant. And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give you tables of stone, and a Torah, and commandments which I have written; that you may teach them. Exodus 24:12

The Ten Commandments were written upon two stone tablets by the finger of God. At a deeper sod level, this is communicating to us that the Torah was being given to a people who had hearts of stone. That is why they broke the covenant almost immediately and fell into golden calf worship.

So, Yeshua came and died on the tree and shed His blood so that the original marriage covenant agreement could be renewed. By repenting of our sin and believing on Yeshua as our Savior and Redeemer, we get a new heart, as it is written:

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. nd I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. Ezekiel 36:26-27

The PURPOSE of the indwelling Holy Spirit is to give us a heart that loves the Torah and a heart that seeks to follow and obey the Torah.

For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, but ye are come unto Mount Zion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels. Hebrews 12: 18, 22

Yeshua is not doing away with the Torah. He wants to do away with the stony heart!
