The parsha for this week, Noach (Gen. 6:9 through 11:32) tells us more about what “as it was in the days of Noach” could mean. But there is, interestingly, a WHOLE lot of “ambiguity” in some parts of the story as well.

This week it’s time for the Sabbath Day session to go in a ‘Whole ‘Nuther Direction’ than Mark often does — because this might be THE singular story – or set of stories – in Scripture with the most “unanswered questions.”

Scripture is clear: We are not to “add to”, nor “subtract from” those things which He has commanded, and are “as Written.” But when we look at the confusion that is today, and ask reasonable questions, like, “Is THIS what ‘as it was in the days of Noah’ looks like?” that we are not only inclined to “connect the dots,” but perhaps even…speculate.

It’s been more than clear for a while that “time draws short,” and there’s been an acceleration of Evil as things come to a head.

And most of us have had the experience of dealing with co-workers, friends, neighbors, even family, who just plain will NOT see the Truth.

But there are some important questions that need to be addressed as the clock runs out. What will it take? If things get “bad enough” – or blatant enough – will those who have been blind wake up, or get hit by the train before they do?

This show, though, is addressed to the rest of us.

So – we see what’s coming. But are there still things we KNOW we should be doing, but haven’t – for whatever “plausible seeming reason”?

How do we communicate, that sense of urgency, and then what?

At the conclusion of His Fall Feasts, it’s time to turn back again to the Beginning, and the Book of Genesis, aka “Bereshiet” and the first Book AND Torah parsha in the Torah.

The parsha for this week — IN the Beginning, Bereshiet (Gen. 1:1 through 6:8) is arguably one of the most FUNDAMENTAL of them all; the Foundation, upon which what follows rests.

There are so many vitally important themes in this first part of Scripture, and so many elements and concepts, that are all introduced “in the Beginning.”

But the theme that must stand out “at such a time as this” is Authority. Real, and that which is “God-given,” and that which has been abdicated, usurped, and stolen.

Given how far, and now even how rapidly, the collapse, attacks, and move toward war worldwide has been progressing, there has been a lot of discussion of late about the timeline. Especially since there’s a “date certain” in less than three weeks that will definitely “clarify” the situation, one way or another.

The alternative, of course, remains: Death.

STOOPID! At the Speed of SCIENCE!

This week, Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship takes a two-part look at parsha “Ha’azinu” (Deuteronomy chapter 32) and the end of the week that includes Yom Kippur, and the second-to-last portion in the Book, and thus the Torah.

The sequence again begins with the Erev Shabbat reading, in the context of the Fall Feasts, and ‘the times’ in which we now live:

The Sabbath Day teaching is about asking some “hard questions” – especially given the events that arguably have brought us closer to Global Thermonuclear War, among other things, than ever in human history. And it really is tough to argue that whatever “Jugment(s)” that Yahuah may bring, or at least “allow,” on AmeriKa – “Western Civilization” or a World that Just Plain Hates Him, aren’t more than fully deserved.

It is clear why He SHOULD be “angry”, and what that means. But, really, what does that mean for us in the face of “fire”? Do we pray against what just may be “His Will?” Tough questions require us to take an HONEST look at Scripture, and what His Word really says.

That right there, just might speak volumes. It’s time to pay attention.

Join Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship for a two-part look at parsha “Vayelekh” (Deuteronomy chapter 31 alone) which does perhaps seem a bit ‘short’ for a parsha, but is nevertheless still not at all short of “meaty”.

The sequence begins with the Erev Shabbat reading and the certainly helps to “set up” that claim:

The Sabbath Day ‘deeper look’ involves some words that perhaps just don’t get translated quite properly into English. It’s bad enough to “break” His Covenant, but arguably “a ‘nuther thing altogether” to make it VOID – as if it had never existed.

Not only does that help to at least in part help explain His “anger”, the following exile (still in progress) and why He “hides His face,” it also seems to explain what is now coming to a head.

This week has seen QUITE a bit of dramatic escalation of the war on pretty much of all of humanity, on a number of fronts. The economic meltdown is coming to a head, there seems to be no more hiding the degree of perfidy involved in subjecting over a billion people to the Poison Poke, and it’s pretty much undeniable that the Evil Empire just committed an outright act of war, not just against a nuclear superpower, but arguably most of Europe.

There’s no turning back now, and True Ugly is evidently now inevitable.

As the annual Torah cycle begins to come to conclusion, the parsha this week (Nitzavim, Deuteronomy 29:10 through chapter 30) is the one that Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa Fellowship suggests — especially given season and confluence of global events at literally Biblical levels — is perhaps the most vital of all.

It’s certainly one of the most ignored. Perhaps because it refutes so unequivocally the what is probably the Biggest Lie of the last 17 centuries.

The sequence begins with the Erev Shabbat reading, which not only refutes that Big Lie (and its corollaries) but includes what Mark suggests is the most concise “two word” summary OF Scripture IN Scripture, “Choose life!”

The Sabbath teaching this week is for those who are starting to realize the EXTENT to which we have “inherited lies from our fathers.” But, more importantly, what we can do NOW to walk in His Truth. It’s even a “wooden stake” in that vampire of a lie that attempts to proclaim the Savior Himself a liar, that He “did away with” His own “law”, or ‘nailed it to the cross.’

Now, more obviously that it’s ever even been before, that is a lie unto death. It’s vital we be ready to refute it, give a reason for the hope within us, and choose life!
