Hebrew Nation Online

Parsha Matot (Numbers 30:2 through chapter 32) begins with the topic, and what "YHVH has commanded," concerning vows. And, as Mark Call of Shabbat Shalom Mesa fellowship has suggested literally every time it's taught, it is in his opinion one of the most vital foundations for understanding marriage. As well what has been done to it.

But this year, in the context of a nation, and a world, where duplicity has replaced integrity in virtually every public forum, at minimum, there's even more here to pay careful attention to.

This time, the Erev Shabbat reading is the very heart of the story:

This week we saw still more graphic illustrations of men who put their hands on a Bible and lie. It's not just that in SO many cases a "man's word is NOT his bond" any more, it's that we have gotten so inured to perfidy that we are no longer even surprised by it, and those who do so have no shame. But that leads to a question, often asked: How did we GET here? It seems there are just too many obvious answers to make sense of the whole.

But that then confuses the even more important question: How do we get BACK?

There really may be a succinct answer in this parsha. The most basic unit of 'government,' ordained by Yahuah and outlined in Genesis, and repeatedly thereafter, is the family. And, more importantly, what is called 'patriarchy'.

And, right there, the problem stares us in the face. The fact that even that word itself is now practically a curse to those who, let's be honest, HATE His Word, is virtually a proof.

So, how do you destroy a a people, a nation, a world? Start there. Destroy men. Then the family. And they can work up to killing kids later.

This parsha, and this teaching, is decidedly NOT "politically correct." Which is where we start.

Matot and Numbers 30: How did we get here? And how do we turn back?

Well, I turned 70 this week and it has given me a pause for reassessment of my life. Psalm 90 tells us that a life is 70 years and if by strength, 80 years. I am including the music from Psalm 90 which can be found on my album, "Living Water" at: www.calmingharp.com. I am realizing that time is not my friend, but my Heavenly Father is! He is not bound or limited by time as I am here and now, but He promises me a place in His kingdom if I remain true to His guidance, that will not be limited by time, but will be defined by relationship. I know in whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed to Him until that day!

Steve Rees has been producing Harp Music from the Psalms of David for the past 20 years. He has discovered a connection between the Hebrew text of the Psalms and music notes that develop into chord progressions that form the basis for musical compositions that have been appreciated by thousands of followers. We invite you to join the many lives that have been positively affected by this wonderful music.

This week the Torah teachers, and the prophet Ezekiel, 'change gears' as the study continues into chapter 40, and the description of a temple, certainly evidently, 'yet to come'.

News, commentary, and an extended look at what happens when the wheels come of the 'Official Narrative,' the Big Lie falls apart, the Capo of the AmeriKan Gestapo gets caught - repeatedly - testiLYING about it, and Big Brother just 'doubles down,' again...for the week ending Saturday, 15 July, 2023.

David Justice and Mark Call take a look back at the Big News, and the Big Smoke of the week, but with the understanding that the Big Lie has imploded.

Which means that Evil has already 'doubled-down'.

There's a war coming. Maybe more than one. Because the same servants-of-the-Adversary who have been jonesin' to kick off a thermonuclear first strike are also working hard to set "neighbor against neighbor," and drive once-free AmeriKa into total chaos as well.

And THIS time, Big Brother and his master are pulling out all the stops to drag you in.

But, like the moral of the movie "War Games," the only winning move is not to play.

Moshe could have been remembered for his final failure, but Yah had a better plan. Do personalities and personal issues keep us from entering into the fullness of His promises? Show no mercy to that which we are called to destroy!

Are we expecting Yah to become comfortable with exile?
