The teachers finish II Kings chapter 23 and the life of Josiah, the last good king of Judah prior to captivity in Babylon, but there are still more trials, and even ‘political intrigue’ before they get there.

The teachers ALMOST conclude the look into II Kings chapter 23 this week, and one of the best of the kings of ancient Judah, Josiah (or YosheYahu). And again, it’s the parallels that are most striking. Like it or not, the same idolatry that he was trying to wipe out is no less dominant today.

The Torah teachers continue the study of the Book of Second Kings into chapter 23, and more on the times of King Josiah of Judah, following the ‘re-discovery’ of the Torah scroll at that time.

But it’s the parallels with today that should prove most interesting, not to mention dramatic. Evidently, though, the leadership in that era had the good sense to be terrified at the consequences for their idolatry, given what they were reading.

This week Rob and Mark welcome back Mark Pitrone, and wrap up the look into II Kings chapter 22, where King Joshiah ‘re-discovers’ the ‘Book of the Torah’ (NOT to be confused with ‘law,’ as so many English Bibles mis-translate the word!).

And as a result, there is much in this discussion that points out how the parallels between the idolatry of ancient Judah and the ‘modern church’ simply cannot be ignored — as they have been for far too long.

The story of the end of the life of the wicked king Manasseh concludes in II Kings chapter 21, along with his not-any-better son, Amon, after which the Rob Miller and Mark Call continue into chapter 22, and finally another generally good king of Judah, Josiah.

The teachers continue the study of the split kingdoms in II Kings chapter 21 with the reign of King Manasseh, who certainly knew how to provoke YHVH to anger.

This week the teachers continue to study of the histories of the divided kingdoms, Israel and Judah, after the beginning of the Exile of the ‘northern ten lost tribes,’ and the life of one of the GOOD kings of Judah, King Hezekiah.

There’s more to discuss on what certainly amounts to one of the “great Astronomical miracles” in Scriptue — and what may, or may not — be provable, and how that matters now (including what Mark Call refers to as the concept of the ‘Minimum Necessary Miracle’; speculative, perhaps, but consistent with what IS Written.)
