  • Unmasked Menace
After seven months holed up in her palaces, the Queen is back out and about. Doing what? No one knows, because all we can talk about is her refusal to wear a face mask! She’s accompanied by Prince William, whose much-hyped documentary debuts to disappointing ratings. But he may have more to worry about from Robert Lacey’s intriguing new book, Battle of Brothers, which chronicles the breakdown of Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship. We discuss the extracts, and later consider what kind of royal work is “relevant” in 2020. Plus, Meghan Markle gets trolled for talking about getting trolled, and Kate Middleton suits up for a night at the museum.

  • Book Club: Red, White, and Royal Blue
Apologies for the sound quality in this episode — we accidentally left a window open and unfortunately the traffic is quite noisy, sorry! This month’s Book Club pick is one of our favourite novels of 2019: Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston. We found this alternate reality romance a more bittersweet read the second time around, and on this spoiler-filled episode, we’re talking enemies-to-lovers romance, a threat to the British monarchy, painfully optimistic political worldbuilding, and real-life parallels to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Plus, stay tuned at the end for some of our favourite contemporary romances, including the British romance you absolutely have to read if you loved RWRB.

    The books we recommend:
    - The Kiss Quotient and The Bride Test by Helen Hoang
    - Get a Life Chloe Brown and Take a Hint Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert
    - Boyfriend Material by Alexis Hall
    - The Reluctant Royals series by Alyssa Cole
    - The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams
    - To All the Boys series by Jenny Han
    - Oh My God, What A Complete Aisling by Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen

  • Dental Damnation
The Cambridge kids speak! Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis grill David Attenborough with a series of gothic queries, wisely drawing attention away from this week’s ultimately toothless international controversy over a prehistoric shark tooth. Elsewhere, Kate Middleton gets promoted by the Scouts, while promoting an Irish jewellery brand, and Prince William is commended for his upcoming documentary, as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are condemned for a rumoured upcoming documentary. Plus, we discuss Queen Elizabeth the demon boss, marking Black History Month with the Sussexes, and Prince Charles’s superstitions around thrones...

  • Accounting for Royal Dummies
Strap in for an idiots’ guide to the Sovereign Grant report from your resident royal-watching idiots — we’re talking Air Miles Andy’s private jaunt for a golf championship, a £1m refurb for the Duke of Gloucester (who?) and the Queen’s lonely little train. Plus, is she getting a government bailout or not? Elsewhere, Prince Harry’s comments about voting spark uproar, Meghan Markle wears leather trousers and Kate Middleton claims a dubious “win” over Tatler magazine.

  • Book Club: American Royals II: Majesty
Rejoice! Barbados has hit the ejector button on QEII, announcing its intention to remove the Queen as head of state and become a republic next year. The Queen’s got plenty of other things to worry about in the meantime, from Prince Andrew’s role in Prince Philip’s 100th birthday celebrations to her husband’s desperate escape to Sandringham after lockdown. But she took the time to issue a statement in support of Kate Middleton’s Hold Still exhibition, though Kate herself couldn’t take the time to make an appearance for the launch. We also discuss Prince William and Kate’s visit to a job centre (god help us) and their curious Instagram post for Prince Harry’s birthday. Plus, we give our verdict on Majesty, the sequel to Katharine McGee’s American Royals, with spoilers starting from 23 minutes in.

  • Pruning the Rose
Boom! Prince Harry has repaid the full cost of the Frogmore Cottage renovations, more than a decade earlier than expected, finally becoming independent from daddy at the big age of 35. Elsewhere, the Queen wants everyone to know she may someday return to work, and the Cambridges confirm Prince George and Princess Charlotte are back at school, while wisely avoiding putting their faces to the Government’s dodgy advice. Plus, Tatler’s contentious Kate Middleton cover story undergoes a curious edit and Camilla Parker Bowles makes a case for royal face shields.

  • Hollywood Royalty
Looks like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have found their freedom — financial freedom, that is. As the Sussexes sign a mega-deal with Netflix, we consider what their “impactful” programming will look like, and discuss Harry’s sweet gesture to honour Princess Diana’s memory on the anniversary of her death. Back in the UK, Prince William and Kate Middleton bring Prince George on a grouse shoot while visiting granny at Balmoral, and the Queen hosts Prince Andrew for “crisis talks” about the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. Our government is urging us to return to offices, but the rules don’t apply for QEII… As the Queen reveals she will not be returning to Buckingham Palace for the foreseeable future, and Kate Middleton takes a break from her holidays to send an email, we talk about how 2020 has exposed the royal family as the ultimate layabouts. Elsewhere, the tabloids get choked up about Prince William and Prince Harry joining forces for a commemorative statue of their mother Diana, and Meghan Markle gets comfortable in a backyard conversation with Gloria Steinem. • My Super Sweet 16 Bathrooms
Meghan Markle is getting political! While we await the Architectural Digest spread of the Sussexes’s outrageous new Montecito home (16 bathrooms???), we’re discussing Prince Harry and Meghan’s busy week, including an impassioned speech about voting, volunteering and a fierce rebuttal of their biographer’s comments as the Finding Freedom debrief continues. Along with Harry’s grievances, we consider Prince Charles’s complaints (in short: “poppycock!”) and whether Meghan had an “unrealistic expectation” of her relationship with Kate Middleton. Plus, Prince Andrew is linked to a second alleged trafficking victim in a new Jeffrey Epstein documentary, and poses problems for a women’s golf championship…Tune in and let us know your thoughts on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, or send us an email at [email protected].
