DeMille. This show aired on CBS. The series began on the NBC Blue Network (later to become ABC) in 1934-35 and ran on CBS from 1935 to 1954. It's final broadcast year was 1954-55 on NBC. A Twenty-One Year run... not too shabby. Top notch lead actors (paid $5K per show each) with excellent scripts, technical and musical production... the show outspent every other competitor. The characters appeared in Paramount Pictures in 1937, then MGM with several films during the later 1930's and early 40's. The radio era began in Oct of 1938 when Lionel Barrymore (photo, seated) and Lew Ayers performed a scene from an upcoming film "Young Dr. Kildare" In the summer of 1949, MGM reunited Barrymore and Ayers in the radio series "The Story of Dr. Kildare. The production lasted until 1951 before television caught up in popularity. On this track you will hear "The Case of Dr. Robert Lane" from February 15, 1950. This is an excellent medical drama series and holds up well, even today. I took a little liberty with the spaces given to allow stations to do a commercial... as this was a syndicated radio show.
