The Mercury Theatre on the Air premiered their first live broadcast with "Dracula" on July 11, 1938. This track features a recording of that broadcast. Orson Welles, Agnes Moorehead, Ray Collins, Martin Gable, George Coulouris, Elizabeth Fuller, and Karl Swenson make up the cast who performed this premier show from NYC on Monday night at 9pm. It was the first of many broadcasts to come and was critically acclaimed as the most outstanding dramatic series on radio.

The It's Time To Smile Show , which was a comedy-music variety program, played Monday nights on the NBC Network, from October 2nd, 1940, to June 24th, 1941. It starred Eddie Cantor and featured many great guest stars. One interesting note is that Eddie signed young talent Dinah Shore to the show as a regular.

On this track you are going to hear a show that was broadcast live from a Marine base in California on May 27, 1942 and features guest stars George Burns and Gracie Allen…. skits, stand-up, music performed before 1500 Marines preparing to ship out to the Pacific during WW II.
