Guess who's back in LA for the Oscars on Hello Beauty? It's celebrity eyebrow specialist, Joey Healy! I first chatted with Joey last year on Episode #23, where he shared how he successfully built his eyebrow empire and studio in Fifth Avenue, New York. From that episode, he shares with us that he prefers natural eyebrows over microblading. A year after, and looking into this year's eyebrow trends, natural-looking eyebrows are still the way to go. We see this same look with makeup where less is more and that the focus is more the skin.
As a sought-after eyebrow specialist, clients trust Joey's conservative take on eyebrows where he is all about enhancing one's beauty. In this episode, Joey gets candid about the reasoning behind why he can't commit to procedures like microblading and the truth about eyebrow lamination. He provides tips on how to create natural-looking eyebrows that have a 3D effect and what tools are used to help you achieve this. Joey's amazing personality makes it easy to not dread the usual task of grooming our eyebrows by giving us a fun outlook on how to successfully deal with them- and that is to embrace them and not fight them. ;-)

Proudly made in Vancouver, Nala is a "free-from" skincare line that was created from the inspiration of Mila's late husband, Alan, and Ada's father, whom they lost to cancer. Nala is driven by the philosophy that taking care of ourselves is vital to keep us and our loved ones longer in this beautiful world. Along with her daughter, Ada, who is the brand's CMO, they are changing the future of the beauty industry by offering personalized deodorants to fit people's unique self and needs. In this episode, we learn why we should consider switching to natural deodorants, what you should do and expect if you'll be doing the switch for the first time, what ingredients Nala has that makes it an effective product to aid in odor and perspiration, and so much more. Mila also talks about her plans in venturing into body care which makes sense given that she already has her own special natural concoction that has been tried and tested (her daughter Ada used oil that Mila created and it prevented her from developing stretch marks during pregnancy!).

She shares with us her story about how she started as an Assistant and worked her way up to CEO. Among her insights on the value of having a great support system, such as her family, which contributes to her success, she talks about the luxury skincare brand, RéVive. RéVive Skincare was developed by plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Gregory Brown, with a mission to turn lackluster skin to a glowing one through skin renewal. In this episode, Elana talks about why natural and organic skincare may not be the type of skincare you should be using because its components are something that our body doesn't know how to process. She explains more about why Dr. Gregory Brown's bio-engineered proteins, called Bio Renewal Technology, which RéVive is known for, is what is compatible with our skin because it mimics the same functions as proteins from our body.

Amanda Montell is a linguist and author of "Wordslut: A Feminist Guide to Taking Back the English Language." In this episode of Hello Beauty, Amanda gives us an overview of how we can feel more empowered with the way we talk by providing background information on the manner in which women speak, and how society has trained us and chosen the male voice to be the voice of reason and authority. By knowing where words and expressions come from, we can finally cut ourselves some slack if we say "like", for example, one too many times because this doesn't connote a low level of intelligence. In her book, which is a must-read (and must-listen because she narrates it!) she even gives tips on how to deal and respond to catcallers, amongst many true-to-life applicable scenarios.
Amanda brings her ray-of-sunshine of a personality, along with her amazing lavender and yellow sparkly eye makeup to this interview which will not only instantly put you in a good mood, but also provide you with "Aha" moments as she shares researched-backed facts on the relationship between culture and language. Being involved in the beauty industry as a writer for Who What Wear, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, Byrdie.com, Bustle, and many more, Amanda tells us what this industry needs to shed light or discuss more of. Of course, she gives us a detailed rundown of her hair, skin, and makeup routine where there are a few products I haven't heard of and will definitely try!

Dr. Jen Welter is this week's Hello Beauty guest. As the first female to coach in the NFL, she definitely is no stranger to misconceptions. These misconceptions are used to box and limit people's actual capabilities and skillset. She continued her path to greatness by taking on the challenge as the first female to coach in the NFL, author a book called "Play Big: Lessons in Being Limitless from the First Woman to Coach in the NFL", and even break into the beauty industry by having a nail polish collaboration with Orly called Kick Glass.
This episode is not only filled with incredible motivation to help you to keep going and breaking that glass ceiling in all industries, but Jen also gets candid with her favorite beauty treatments and products. Find out how the collaboration with Orly happened and the story on how she created the Kick Glass line. Whether it be starting a new diet, getting on a fitness routine, or even trying to muster enough courage to be more assertive at work, we usually overthink and experience some sort of "analysis paralysis". Michael-Paul Lane, Founder of Qiaroskuro, is this week's guest and talks about the key tactics that he uses as a business consultant to help many clients of his (as well as friends and family) to believe in themselves and follow through with their passion. He believes that life is too short to dwell on the heavy things we put on ourselves and that who you are is already great. In this episode, he expresses that overthinking is just a hurdle and is an excuse we give ourselves when we try to start a business.
Starting his first business at 18, Michael-Paul gives important takeaways that you don't want to miss. Leading by example and walking the walk is also one of the reasons why he's a driving force and influence to others to quit their job that makes them unhappy and follow their dreams. This unique personality is translated in all the work he creates, including his latest venture, Qiaroskuro. Qiaroskuro is a luxury brand for those unique individuals that choose to live a life of contrasting experiences. When one experiences Qiaroskuro's unisex fragrance, "in the absence of darkness...", you'll quickly discover that there has been a side of you that's waiting to be explored.
