Running as an independent, Harold Ford will challenge incumbent Democrat Alisa Gregory for her position as Henrico sheriff in November. Gregory is seeking her second term in office after winning the position in the 2019 election with 56.1% of the vote. Her Republican challenger Bob Matson received 30.9% of the vote, while independent challenger Tom Wadkins received 12.7%. The sheriff’s office is responsible for providing security in the county courthouse and jails and inmate rehabilitation through a variety of programs, ranging from vocational to educational. The Henrico Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing at its Nov. 28 meeting to vote on a resolution to authorize as much as 0,000 in bonds to help pay to inventory all water lines with lead or copper pipes and replace them, as required by revised EPA regulations. Twenty-six Henrico County Public Schools programs have been recognized in the 2023 National Association of Counties Achievement Awards. The annual awards honor groundbreaking county government programs across the nation. Two of the programs also received awards from the Virginia Association of Counties. Henrico County Public Schools will hold its annual College and Career Night Nov. 1, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Deep Run High School, 4801 Twin Hickory Road in Glen Allen.
