More than 500 runners competed in the Regency Mile at Regency mall Oct. 29, and more than 1,000 people attended the event, which was produced by the Live Red Foundation. LRF provides free fitness programs that teach life skills to more than 8,000 children annually in Richmond's lowest-opportunity neighborhoods using funding generated in large part by events like the Regency Mile, which also provide a chance for local children and families to get active. No agency tasked with management of the state’s medical cannabis program can cite sales data, but the Cannabis Control Authority said it plans to start tracking revenue in 2024. Medical marijuana became legal in 2020 and the first dispensary opened in Bristol that year. There are now over 20 dispensaries across the state. The state Board of Pharmacy, which falls under the Virginia Department of Health Professions, currently oversees the medical cannabis program. The CCA will take on its regulatory role in January. The HCA Healthcare Foundation and Girl Scouts of the USA recently launched a national Mental Wellness Patch Program to address mental wellness among young women. Developed in partnership with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the patch programs are currently available to all Girl Scout councils nationwide.  Locally, HCA Virginia and Girl Scouts of the Commonwealth have joined forces to implement the program, which is specifically designed for girls in grades 4-12.  The new program encourages girls to learn about mental wellness, recognize and understand their feelings, effectively cope with mental health challenges, and feel comfortable seeking help. Henrico County will begin providing annual residential leaf-collection services Monday, Nov. 6, with both free and paid options available for residents. Henrico will offer vacuum leaf collection from Nov. 6 to Dec. 1 and again from Feb. 26 to March 29.
