The Capital Region Airport Commission, owner and operator of Richmond International Airport, has earned Great Place To Work Certification for the third consecutive year.  The award is based solely on what current employees say about their experience working at the Airport for the Commission. The Henrico County Division of Fire has earned Accredited Agency status by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International and the Center for Public Safety Excellence for a sixth consecutive time. Pursuit of accreditation is voluntary and awarded on a five-year cycle. Henrico Fire has been certified continuously since 1998 and will be up for reaccreditation again in 2028. A Maryland company has purchased a West Broad Street shopping center in the heart of Henrico's West End for .55 million. Airport Hotel, LLC of Ellicott City, Maryland purchased the Broad Street Plaza Shopping Center at 9856-9864 West Broad Street from Sledd Properties Sept. 12. The Coaches Cook-Off, a charity fundraising event featuring local college coaches and chefs, has returned. As of Sept. 12, Virginians have a new option to learn when high-demand bourbons and other spirits are available for sale.  Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority has introduced text notifications for limited availability product drops. Customers can sign up for drop notifications by texting the keyword DROPS to 80424. Users will have to attest they are 21 years of age or older. The Weinstein JCC has announced its lineup of in-person and virtual events for the 2023-2024 season of Arts + Ideas, an annual celebration of arts, culture, ideas and entertainment. On Sept. 11, the Virginia State Police Help Eliminate Auto Theft program presented awards to three Virginia police departments and 15 individuals to recognize their efforts in reducing vehicle theft and theft of vehicle parts across the Commonwealth. The awards ceremony took place during the annual conference of the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police & Foundation held in Norfolk.
