Fervan C. Huffer, 98, of Richmond, passed peacefully in her home on September 1, 2023.  She was born on April 16, 1925, in Iron Gate, Va. to Nora Coffey and Chalmer Crutchfield.  Fervan married her loving husband, Wayte Huffer, in 1950, who preceded her in death as well as her brothers, Ruel and Dennis “Jack”, all military veterans.  She became a licensed practical nurse through on-the-job training at King’s Daughters Hospital in Staunton, Va.  She adored being a nurse and cared for those in need for over 40 years.  Fervan served as a den mother for the Cub Scouts, was...Article Link

Several Henrico Schools staff and parents expressed outrage that air conditioning units at a reported 10 schools were not working when students returned to school after Labor Day on Sept. 5.  Henrico Schools officials reported that 23 schools were experiencing AC outages on Aug. 17, just a few days before school started on Aug. 21, although parents and staff reported an additional eight schools that were also without AC. ASM Global, an international venue management company and producer of live events, will operate the new Henrico Sports & Events Center, which is scheduled to open at Virginia Center Commons in October. The Henrico Sports & Entertainment Authority Board of Directors, which oversees the center, approved an initial five-year contract with ASM Global in July that may be extended annually up to five additional years.
