The Henrico Police Animal Shelter is temporarily closed to the public, as a result of rising infections among its animals, which officials said could lead to canine influenza if not properly addressed. Testing and a quarantine process is underway to ensure all animals are safe and healthy, Henrico Police officials said in a press release. While the shelter is closed, the Henrico Police Animal Protection Unit will not be able to pick up stray dogs or receive any surrendered animals. Henrico Police have arrested the second suspect they were seeking on second-degree murder charges in connection with the shooting death of a 41-year-old woman last month in Highland Springs. Police took 37-year-old Montreal Javon Robinson into custody early Wednesday morning, they said in a statement, without elaborating where or how they located him. The Henrico Planning Commission June 15 endorsed a proposal from Marshall Land Company, LLC for a multi-family apartment building in the Brookland District on the south side of Jacque Street, west of its intersection with Dabney Road.
