U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger (D-7th District) Thursday announced the launch of her second annual “Valentines for Vets” program to collect and distribute Valentine’s Day cards to Seventh District veterans. The Virginia state Senate voted on Wednesday to abolish the death penalty. The House of Delegates must also pass the same bill before it can be sent to Governor Ralph Northam (who already has expressed his support for the idea) to sign. The bill was sponsored by Senator Scott Surovell (D-Fairfax), a criminal defense attorney in Virginia. The Virginia Senate voted 37-0 to approve a bill which facilitates the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine. The bill, SB1445, will require the Department of Health to create a process where any health care provider in the Commonwealth who is qualified and available to administer the COVID-19 vaccine can volunteer to administer the vaccine to Commonwealth citizens.
