Have you observed the mindset in many workplaces today that says "To be successful, to fulfill my dreams, it's okay for me to do whatever I need to do - to move further up the ladder"? If it means to lie a little, it's okay? If it means stepping on some body or climbing over them, it's okay? If it means working endless hours at the expense of my family or my relationship with the Lord, it's okay because it will lead me to success, fulfillment, and the American dream? In John, Ch. 13 - Jesus takes to task this hierarchy, this climbing the ladder to success mindset. It is the way many people think and the goals they have and Jesus tips that entire thing upside down to help us understand what life is truly about.

Do you want to understand what the abundant blessed life is all about? What Jesus says brings the deepest level of "soul satisfaction" in a way that nothing in this world can deliver.

We at HCC are about to embark on an amazing journey for the next 10 weeks. From February 10th-April 14th we will be relocating to the Eminence Schools EDHUB while the Vision Campaign renovations are completed on our church building. What an exciting time to be a part of the body of Christ at HCC!

Are you in a place of difficulty and trial? Feeling like you are ready to “throw the towel in” and give up? As followers of Christ, we are to be prepared for the trials and hard times ahead of us. God’s will for us is to walk through these times with us into a place of victory. Part of the preparation is understanding the purposes for our trials right where we are. Sometimes the only way the lost will see and hear about Jesus is by watching us go through trials they know they could never go through, so the inner-power of Christ can become visible through us and draw them to Him.

I want to invite you to join me as we look at what God is up to in the “tough stretches” of our lives.

Anytime a gift is given, the recipient must choose to respond in one of two ways. The first way says, This gift is so valuable it can’t be risked. Those who follow the first way realize that when the gift is brought out into the open, things may not go well. The gift may be abused; it may be damaged or even broken. Taking the gift out of the box involves a risk.

The second way says, This gift is so valuable it must be risked. Those who follow the second way understand that if the gift is not brought out of the box, it will never be used at all. To leave the gift in the box will thwart the desire of the giver. There is no tragedy, like the tragedy of the unopened gift.

You too have been given a gift. Is your life following the first way or the second? In Matthew 25 Jesus tells the story of a CEO and his three employees. Each one of them was given an unprecedented opportunity, literally the chance of a lifetime. In this story Jesus teaches us three principles about the master- about GOD and the opportunity he offers us- we must understand if we are to embrace his gift.
