I believe that the message that the “Church” needs to hear in the day and hour, above all others, is DON’T QUIT! Don’t quit on your spouse, don’t quit on your family, don’t quit on the Body of Christ, don’t quit on life and don’t quit on GOD! I could package it differently: keep going, keep climbing, don’t stop, stand firm. I could keep going but you don’t need me to. Whatever your story, my words of encouragement to you would probably be the same. The very same words I too need to hear on a regular basis. Words that inspire courage, determination and a will to persevere when the enemy and the world are pressing in.

Encouragement is a battle cry of sorts. A call to advance, a call to rally, a call to move and act. When you are right on the edge of giving up, when you feel completely overwhelmed, when you are beaten down, encouragement can get you or someone you know back in the game, taking back the ground that you lost in the battle.

How about you? Do you need some courage this week to get back in the game of life? To face the giants that are surrounding you?

Two times in the book of Revelation we are told that the door of heaven will be opened. The first time it is opened is to receive the church into heaven at the time of the rapture. Revelation 4:1 says; “After this I looked, and standing before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here and I will show you what must take place after this”.

Then, the door swings open a second time for Christ and His church to go from heaven on their triumphant march back to earth (Revelation 19:11,14). The first opening is for the “catching away” of the saints. The second is for the return of Christ!

When Jesus arrives on the earth a second time, the moment his feet touch the Mount of Olives, the mountains will be split apart, creating a passageway from Jerusalem to Jericho and it will be an unprecedented earth shattering event.

Honoring our college/high school graduates

Throughout my ministry I’ve had people say to me; “let’s study the Book of

Revelation.” But sometimes they don’t know what they were getting into.

The Book of Revelation is mysterious and difficult to understand. It is a book

of prophecy, and prophecy is deliberately vague. There is just enough truth

in Revelation about the future to wet our appetites but not enough

information to allow us to set dates and become complacent.

I think the reason many people want to study the Book of Revelation is they

think of Revelation as a mysterious crystal ball into the future, and if we

would just unravel the puzzle we’d know exactly what is going to happen.

They could say; “well, the World Trade Towers were hit in 2001, and that’s

revealed in Revelation 6. Then there’s the bombing of the Boston

Marathon, and that’s revealed in Revelation 9. So, it looks like Jesus is going

to return sometime in 2030.”

In my opinion the Book of Revelation is not the place to begin studying end

time predictions, because it tells us what’s going to happen after Christ

returns and raptures the church. The place to begin is to look at what Jesus

and Paul clearly said about the second coming. Do you want to know what

they said will take place when Jesus comes again?

I find it interesting that the Bible dedicates more space to the subject of prophecy than almost any other. There are over 1800 prophecies in God’s Word concerning the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ alone! Obviously prophecy is important to God and He desires us to understand His plans and be ready for His return. He has given us signs for a reason.

A sign can be an event, symbol, object, place or person whose existence indicates something important in God’s plan for history. Jesus Himself talked about signs verifying His first coming, signs portending His second coming back to earth and signs of the end of the age.

Whenever we address the subject of

Bible prophecy or the 2 nd coming of

Christ, some people are skeptical.

They think that Bible prophecy has no

relevance to their every day life. Most

people feel like they are too busy

working, trying to pay the bills or

keeping their children in line to be

worried about Christ’s 2 nd coming or

the “rapture” of the church.

We need to understand how important

warnings are. In Eminence last night,

we had several severe weather

warnings of approaching storms. They

warned us that danger is approaching

and we need to make appropriate

preparations. Those who ignore those

warnings do so at their own peril. It is

the same way with the 2 nd coming of

Christ. The Bible says there are signs

that will precede His 2 nd coming. We

need to be aware so that we can

prepare and be “ready” for His return.

I am very excited to share that this

Sunday we will be beginning a

message series on the 2 nd coming of

Christ. We will be looking at what the

Bible says about Jesus’ 2 nd coming,

why it’s important for us to study it and

how it benefits our lives today, as well

as what is going to happen when

Christ returns. Then, I will be sharing 7

reasons that I believe the 2 nd coming of

Christ is not just near, but very near.
